The first Bumper In Berlin teaser trailer sees the return of an iconic character from Pitch Perfect. Directed by Jason Moore, Pitch Perfect earned critical acclaim and amassed a major fan base when it hit theaters a decade ago in 2012, spawning two sequels: 2015's Pitch Perfect 2, and 2017's Pitch Perfect 3. The musical-comedy follows the overzealous all-female a cappella group at the fictional Barden University, The Barden Bellas. Pitch Perfect features a star-studded cast including Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Elizabeth Banks, and helped launch the acting careers of Rebel Wilson and Adam Devine. Now, one of them is getting their own television show.

Last year, Peacock announced a spinoff series to continue the story of Pitch Perfect's central antagonist, Bumper, officially titled Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin. Produced by Pitch Perfect 2 director and star Elizabeth Banks, the series will follow Bumper as he attempts to launch a music career in Germany after his song goes viral overseas. Devine portrayed the patronizing, borderline sexist leader of the all-male group at Barden, The Treblemakers, in Pitch Perfect 2, but was written off for the third film in the trilogy. However, the actor’s back to reprise his role alongside newcomers to the franchise, Modern Family's Sarah Hyland, and She-Hulk's Jameela Jamil.

A trailer released today by Peacock teases the return of Devine as Bumper. The hilarious vlog-style clip sees Bumper re-introduce himself after being 'off the grid' for a while. He then unleashes his signature vocals in an impressive German a cappella mashup of the song 'Take On Me'. Check out the teaser trailer for Bumper In Berlin above.

Will Bumper In Berlin Be The Comeback Pitch Perfect Needs?

Pitch Perfect's follow-up installments, Pitch Perfect 2 & Pitch Perfect 3, fell flat with audiences and critics, failing to live up to the expectations the original film set. While they can be considered a box office success, as the franchise amassed over $600 million worldwide, both loyal fans of the series and critics were disappointed given the originality, humor, and strong characters introduced in the first movie. However, Bumper In Berlin offers the opportunity for Pitch Perfect to redeem itself and prove it can be a successful franchise. With veteran Banks producing, it stands a chance at reigniting popularity in the series.

On the other hand, the absence of the beloved Barden Bellas will certainly deter some viewers from tuning in to Bumper In Berlin. Although none of the female cast members from Pitch Perfect are slated to return, this doesn't rule o the possibility of a Barden reunion down the line. However, Devine's work since his breakout role in Pitch Perfect has made a name for the actor, including Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates with Zac Efron and the acclaimed TV show The Righteous Gemstones have put him on the map in terms of popularity. Whether his star power is enough to attract audiences to Bumper in Berlin remains to be seen. But, based on this first teaser trailer, it seems Devine will return in grand fashion when Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin hits peacock.
