CBS cancels its long-running drama Bull after six seasons. The legal drama series premiered in 2016, centered on the employees at Trial Analysis Corporation (TAC), a jury consulting firm. Dr. Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly) sat at the helm as the team's psychologist and trail expert. The character was inspired by the career of Dr. Phil McGraw, who served as an executive producer. With co-stars Geneva Carr, Freddy Rodriguez, Chris Jackson, Jaime Lee Kirchner, and MacKenzie Meehan rounding out the cast, the series went on to film in New York for six seasons securing a solid fanbase.

Series lead Michael Weatherly took to Twitter on the evening of January 18 to announce that Bull season 6 would be its last. In a series of tweets, the actor wrote, "It’s been my privilege to play Dr Jason Bull but after 6 Seasons of incredible storylines, I’ve decided it’s time to pursue new creative challenges and bring his story to a close." Weatherly's statement implies it was his decision to end Bull. After six seasons, the actor said it's time for him to explore other opportunities. CBS confirmed the news shortly after, reiterating the production's gratitude for the cast and crew who made Bull what it was. With season 6 currently airing, the show only has 12 episodes remaining.

In a streaming era, the end of the network procedural isn't a complete shock. Though Weatherly alluded to it being his call, many factors no doubt played into the tough decision. One likely is the fallout from sexual harassment allegations posed against Weatherly by former co-star Eliza Dushku in 2018. It's hard to separate the series from Dushku's harrowing claims. Overall, the good news for remaining fans is that the series will likely have a proper ending. Bull's finale is expected to air in May.
