One of the most important aspects of Valheim is that players need to travel all around the world to its different biomes in order to collect different items and resources. The reason why this is so important is that only specific types of materials can be found in certain biomes, which means that players who want to create higher quality items will need to explore more thoroughly. Getting these resources back home though can prove to be a challenge.

One of the biggest things that can be a pretty serious barrier for players in Valheim is bodies of water. Swimming costs players stamina in the game, and can eventually kill them if they stay in the water for too long. On top of this going around large bodies of water can cost the player quite a bit of time. While one way to cross water is to construct a boat, sometimes this isn't worth the hassle for small lakes or rivers. This guide will show players how to construct a bridge instead.

Valheim - How to Construct a Bridge

Building bridges in Valheim are a perfect way to make crossing bodies of water much faster and easier. They will allow the player to avoid going around them or swimming across, but it also means that players will be able to push carts across these bridges to collect more resources. Building a bridge can take quite a bit of time away from the player, but doing so will most likely save them more time in the long run.

There are a couple of things that players will want to ensure first before they begin building a bridge though to make their life easier. First, they will want to decide exactly which point they want to construct the bridge at. They should construct a workbench on either side of the body of water where the ends of each bridge will be, and then construct a chest next to each bench. In these chests, the player can then put all of the resources they will need for building, which for simple bridge-building will just be wood and stone.

Once this has been done the player will want to begin on one side and level out the ground where they will start the bridge as much as possible. They can then build a set of stairs and then start constructing floor pieces going out across the water. Eventually, the player will need to build supports underneath these pieces to stop the bridge from collapsing, which is going to be the most difficult part of this process. The player can use a hoe and some stone to raise the ground underneath the water just enough to allow the player to construct a pillar underneath the bridge. The player will need to do this until they are able to build pillars up high enough to hold the floor pieces up.

All the player needs to do now is keep this process up until they make it to the other side of the body of water and have constructed their very own bridge. Once this has been done the player can go back and add things like a roof, railings, or other decorative pieces to the bridge to make it look a little fancier, or even widen it to allow several players and carts to cross it simultaneously. They may need to add some more supports after the fact, which can be done by constructing a raft to get under the bridge in order to make it a little sturdier.
