Thrills, action, and romance: every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer had these three things (along with life lessons and lots of jokes). Even to this day, fans love this exciting and memorable series because it's not your usual teen drama. Sure, there are high schoolers with crushes and school dances and the like, but since Buffy's main goal is to save humanity from vampires, the show tends to talk about much deeper subjects.

Where is the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer now? Let's take a look at what the eight main players have been up to in the years since the series finale aired in 2003.

Anthony Stewart Head

Let's start with Anthony Stewart Head, who played Buffy's watcher Giles. The actor has been on many TV shows since his days researching in the library with the Scooby Gang. In 2018, he was on two shows: The Split and Girlfriend. In the past few years, he has had roles on You, Me & Them and Warehouse 13.

His biggest role was definitely Giles, but he has been working steadily since the show ended in 2003.

In 2017, he wasn't part of the cast's reunion interview for Entertainment Weekly because he was working: he tweeted, "So sad I couldn’t join the reunion – wasn’t for lack of trying – literally coincided with the tech rehearsal of Love In Idleness. Bummer."

Eliza Dushku

Eliza Dushku made quite the impression when she played Faith, a slayer who appeared in twenty episodes of the show. The actress married Peter Palandjian in 2018 and has been pretty busy acting since she left Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Many people recognize the actress as the new girl in town in the 2000 cheerleading film Bring It On. Eliza has appeared in several other movies, such as 2008's Bottle Shock, and her TV resume is impressive.

In 2009 and 2010, Eliza starred on another Joss Whedon series, Dollhouse, which lasted for 27 episodes. Most recently, the actress starred on Bull (and her recent settlement with CBS for $9.5 million was in the news this past December).

 James Marsters

The man who played Spike, another love interest of Buffy's, has been steadily working since his time as the popular vampire was up. (Fun fact: he was only pretending to speak with a British accent.) He appeared on the spin-off Angel in season five and has also been on other TV shows such as SmallvilleWithout a Trace, Witches of East End, and Runaways. Most recently, James was a voice on the 2018 animated show Dragon Ball Super.

He married Patricia Jasmin Rahman in 2011 and has a son from his previous marriage. James is also a musician who has several albums out.

Nicholas Brendon

Buffy's sidekick (who had a huge thing for her at the beginning of the series, too) has been busy since the show ended in 2003. Nicholas Brendon was definitely memorable as Xander, but he played another huge part in 2010: the Private Practice character who broke into Charlotte's office.

In 2014 and 2015, the actor had a role on the TV series Faking It, and he has been in a handful of made-for-TV-movies in the years since Buffy. He has been married twice but, unfortunately, neither relationship worked out. He has also had some issues in his personal life that he has been open about.

Michelle Trachtenberg

Although Michelle Trachtenberg made a huge impression as Dawn Summers, Buffy's sister and The Key, she is also known for a famous role: playing Georgina Sparks in twenty-eight episodes of Gossip Girl. She was the perfect mean girl and brought a real spark (no pun intended) to the already juicy and dramatic teen series.

Michelle was a child star who got her start in movies like the 1996 film Harriet the Spy. Since her time as Dawn and Georgina, she starred on the TV show Mercy and has had a handful of guest roles. She was the star of the 2015 web series Guidance and was in three TV movies as well.

David Boreanaz

Sometimes, when a character is really popular, they get their own spin-off. It isn't always successful and is often canceled after a few episodes or doesn't make it onto the air. But in the case of David Boreanaz's character Angel, things worked out. The WB show was on the air from 1999 until 2004. In 2003, the actor was in Dido's music video for her single "White Flag" and he was in the 2001 horror film Valentine.

David Boreanaz is also known for appearing as Special Agent Seeley Booth on the TV show Bones and he's currently starring on SEAL Team.

David is married to his second wife, Jaime Bergman, and the couple has two children.

Alyson Hannigan

Willow is a staple of the Scooby Gang. She's best friends with Buffy and Xander and has quite the character arc from nerdy, bookish teenage girl to powerful witch.

Since leaving the magical world of Sunnydale behind, Alyson Hannigan is most known for her role as the hilarious kindergarten teacher Lily on How I Met Your Mother. Besides playing that part from 2005 until 2014, which is definitely a huge chunk of time, she has had a few other roles, including the upcoming 2019 TV movie, Kim PossibleAlyson and her husband, Alexis Denisof (whom she met on the Buffy set), have two daughters, Satyana and Keeva.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

As is typical of the star of a TV show, Sarah Michelle Gellar is the biggest celebrity out of the cast. She has had quite the TV and film career. Back in the '90s and 2000s, she starred in many horror movies (I Know What You Did Last SummerScream 2, and The Grudge), along with the romantic film Simply Irresistible. Besides kicking butt as Buffy, SMG is known for portraying Kathryn in the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.

Alyson Hannigan isn't the only Buffy cast member who met her husband at work. Sarah Michelle Gellar met her now hubby, Freddie Prinze Jr., on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer. The couple has two children. Sarah has also found a culinary career: her cookbook, Stirring Up Fun With Food, came out in 2017 and she co-founded Foodstirs, a company that sells healthy baking mixes.
