Buffy the Vampire Slayer is arguably one of the best superhero TV shows of all time. Action, adventure, emotion and some of the greatest characters ever written - there's no falling out of love with the Scoobies. With a reboot on the horizon, nostalgia for the original series is returning in waves. Joss Whedon will be returning (with a new cast) to revive the magic.
For the slayer in your life, when they're not busy looking for demons, darkness and vampires to fight, these gifts will make them smile. Or if you are a diehard fan yourself and want to recruit some new Slayerettes, this list includes great gateway gifts to capture their hearts.
This is a great present for a new fan who wants to catch up before the upcoming reboot, or a nostalgic slayer freak who can sit back and revisit all of their favourite characters. It's a great choice for an older generation or anyone who prefers DVDs to streaming services or digital versions. If the learning curve of setting up digital media isn't for your loved one, treating them to a binge-watch on disc is sure to please.
It's also a great collector's item - the box is a beautiful design and looks great on a shelf. This is an evergreen show that can be watched again and again, so the complete series should be a staple in every fan's collection.
This is a combination of the first two softcover comics, in an oversized version complete with the original covers of the comics, plus a sketchbook expansion. Great for a young reader or an older fan who can appreciate the art. Pages show cover sketches as well as final cover art, so fans can pore over the stages of creation for their favourite pieces.
In this volume, the Scooby Gang is busy fighting zompires when the Vampyr, Buffy's instruction manual, begins to somehow rewrite itself. Dracula enters and the book goes missing. This is an action-packed story with gorgeous, coloured pages and is a beautiful book that fans might not buy for themselves - great for collectors and a fun, nostalgic treat for Buffy enthusiasts.
Upper Deck Legendary is a great deck-building game. In this version, Marvel universe superheros and villains are replaced by Slayers and Big Bads from the Buffy series. Recruit Slayers as your heroes to build the strongest deck, then fight and defeat Big Bads to gain points. This is a semi-cooperative game, which helps for a positive vibe and friendly competition. A twist is added with a light/dark tracker, that either increases or decreases your characters' strength (a common theme in the Buffy narrative).
The cards themselves are interesting to a collector or fan, just as the original Marvel ones are. This is a fun party game and can be very addictive - a great gift for someone who has played before, or a new recruit who loves anything Sunnydale.
In this highly successful spinoff series, Angel, a vampire cursed with the guilty and self-conscious soul of a human being, moves to LA and becomes a detective. Angel and Buffy had a fierce romance in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, and he is a favourite original character to many. Anyone who has crushed the entire series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and is eager for more will love Angel. The series centres around the complex vampire and his constant battle between the powers of good and evil.
This is another great binge-watch, whether it be introductory or a nostalgic re-watch for a long-time fan.
This is a magical textbook that captures and records each and every magical event, from the entire series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The book is 160 pages fully illustrated, true to the Buffy universe, and full of spells.
It is narrated by Willow Rosenberg, Buffy's sidekick and best friend (and a talented witch).Willow was a shy, nerdy character who developed her magic skills to become very powerful. Willow is a huge fan favourite, so whoever your buying for will be in favour of that choice. The book is also annotated by the other characters in the Scooby Gang, so we don't miss out on their voices. Great for fans of all ages and a spooky night time read.
This figurine sports an iconic Buffy look from the season 1 finale - she wears the white evening gown her mother gave her, to go to the school dance. She has a jacket thrown on top and holds a crossbow, as she's looking to face The Master and defeat him. She also wears her cross necklace, a treasured gift that Angel gave her when she first met him.
In the episode, Buffy removes the necklace as a gesture that she is done being the Slayer. She puts it back on to face the master, and we arrive at the moment captured by this POP! Vinyl. Buffy fans love this moment in the series, and these collectibles are amazing, affordable gifts.
The Sunnydale High School logo, in flames and with fangs of course, appears on this maroon ceramic mug in high-definition gold. Sunnydale High School is the most important setting for the series, and underneath it a Hellmouth simmers, acting as a portal for evil forces attacking the town of Sunnydale. From the cheerleader uniforms to the dark and gorgeous library, images of Sunnydale High bring a smile to any fan's face.
The cup is a bit larger than the average coffee mug, holding fifteen ounces as opposed to the standard twelve. The logo appears on both sides, so either left or right handed users will be happy. It's also dishwasher and microwave safe - magical.
Episode 7 of season 6 was one for the Buffy books. It was a musical episode in which a demon forces characters to reveal secret personal truths through the form of song. The episode is a fan favourite and the soundtrack, performed by the original cast of the show in their own voices, is a celebratory gift for Buffy lovers. Orchestral tunes from other episodes are on the soundtrack as well, and the songs from the musical episode centre around issues from mustard stains to fighting evil.
The episode has been screened in fan viewings since, with a Rocky Horror-esque participation level and enthusiasm. A must-see from the series, your Buffy fan will surely be excited by this gift.
This is a hardcover, special anniversary edition of the Watcher's guides, which were released starting during the original airing of the show. It's a curated compilation, including favourite content from The Watcher's Guides Volumes 1-3. This book acts as a "best-of" overall, rather than an actual full collection of the original volumes.
As a bonus, exclusive interviews with the cast and crew are included in this edition, conducted for the publication of this book in particular. The pages are black and white and include photos and stills from the series. This is a great addition to a bookshelf, especially next to a grimoire!
In this picture book, aimed at younger readers, Buffy appears as a young child, rather than her age as it was at the start of the TV series. Young Buffy is friends with little versions of Willow and Xander, and is a bit less brave than she grew up to be (though still doing a great job of dealing with monsters and scary noises). The character of Giles also appears as the school librarian for these little ones, doling out advice and support.
Unlike the show, the art in this book is bright and cheery, much more of a lighthearted, childlike approach to the Buffy-verse. A great gift for a fan who is now a parent - something for them to read to their child that is within their own fandom as well.
