Jonathan Scott from Brother vs. Brother can now add filmmaker to his long list of accomplishments, as the Canadian construction expert announced the debut of his very own documentary film, Jonathan Scott's Power Trip. According to Scott, he fell into a rabbit hole when he decided to install solar panels at his home. He discovered how many barriers there were to choosing solar energy. Scott turned that one experience into a mission. He wanted to get to the bottom of the energy crisis in America.

Fans know that Jonathan and his Property Brothers twin Drew have renovated all of their own homes. They've captured the process on camera for TV specials like Property Brothers: At Home. Jonathan and Drew have been interested in renewable energy since the year 2000. That year, Jonathan converted his home to run on wind energy, before renewable energy was as well-known as it is today. In 2016, he began working on this documentary, after trying solar energy at home and championing solar energy in his community near Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jonathan wanted to share important information about solar power via his documentary, in large part because he'd faced off with government leaders who were trying to discourage people from using it. Scott decided to investigate. He wanted to find out why the usage of clean energy was being discouraged in North America. On the documentary's Power Trip Truth website, Scott explains that, "there are some very powerful people preventing us from attaining [clean energy]." See the trailer featuring Jonathan below:

The film's trailer shows just how far-reaching his documentary is, as Scott traveled across the country to talk to small-town folks and big business leaders. As he interviews everyone from coal miners to senators, Scott gets to the bottom of why renewable energy has been so hard to come by. The movie also investigates the way current power plants and coal mines are poisoning the people who work in them and harming nearby communities.

Jonathan revealed the trailer for the movie on his Jonathan Scott Instagram and explained his hope for the movie in the caption. He wrote, "My hope with this documentary is that it will challenge how we think about energy not only in the US, but on a global scale, and motivate people to call for meaningful changes to the way our power is sourced and controlled." Zooey Deschanel, Jonathan's girlfriend of over a year offered her congratulations in the comment section, writing, "I’m so proud!!!" See an Instagram post about the documentary below:

The website for the Brother Vs. Brother star's doc promises that it will "infuriate, enrage, and compel you to take action to make solar energy a global reality." Those who want to get inspired about eco-friendly solutions can watch the investigative doc when it airs on PBS on November 16 at 10 pm, or stream it at the PBS website.
