When Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled by Fox after its fifth season, the public outcry from the show's loyal fans was so strong that NBC decided to pick the cop-comedy up and gave the detectives at the 99th precinct one more shot.

As it turns out, despite Fox cancelling the show after the series' highest-rated season, NBC has continued the show's hilarious history and has produced several of the top-rated episodes that the entire series has to date, with Brooklyn 99 showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Charges and Specs, Season 1 (8.9)

In the finale for the very first season, Jake finds himself in hot water when he begins investigating a man that he's explicitly told to stay away from and ends up getting caught. The NYPD Commissioner is set to suspend Jake for his actions, but luckily with Amy and Holt's help Jake is able to find sufficient evidence that the man he was investigating was truly a criminal.

However, during Jake's hearing, he doesn't present the evidence and instead of getting suspended gets himself fired - and the reason why is because the FBI wants him to go undercover and infiltrate a crime-family with his cover being that he was fired from the NYPD.

Johnny and Dora, Season 2 (9.1)

Jake and Amy had been fighting their feelings for each other for two entire seasons leading up to the season 2 finale and all of their emotions finally came to a head when they were forced to kiss during an undercover mission.

Meanwhile, Captain Holt is forced out of the 99 by Deputy Chief Wuntch and ends up leaving the squad. All of the changes in the office make Jake and Amy realize their true feelings for one another and they decide to get together for the very first time, right before their new captain arrives.

Halloween III, Season 3 (9.0)

Season 3 had two episodes tie for the top spot with the first one being the classic Halloween Heist episode. Jake and Holt had each taken home a win in the previous seasons' heists and this season was all set to be the tie-breaker. However, both Jake and Holt end up hurting Amy's feelings by excluding her during the festivities (she's too close to both of them so neither of them trust her).

Amy decides to exact her own sweet revenge and leads Jake and Holt on a phantom goose-chase which results in her revealing herself as the winner of the heist.

Greg and Larry, Season 3 (9.0)

The second episode tied for season 3 was the finale, an episode that ended a four-episode story-arc revolving around a crime boss, Jimmy Figgis, trying to kill a member of the 99, Adrian Pimento. The episode deals with the aftermath of the 99 finding out that Holt's friend, Bob Anderson (who works for the FBI) is actually a double-agent and a mole for Figgis who tries to hold Holt hostage.

The 99 end up saving their captain, getting Bob to spill all of his secrets about Figgis, and manage to bring down the crime boss' entire operations. Seems like a happy ending...until Figgis calls and tells Jake and Holt that he's going to kill them both, causing the two men to enter the Witness Protection program and move to Florida under their new alias' Greg and Larry.

Moo Moo, Season 4 (8.9)

It speaks volumes that this episode was the highest-rated of season 4 since the material the episode covers is an incredibly sensitive subject. When Terry goes looking for his kids' toy (on his own street) he gets stopped by a beat cop who discriminates against Terry and nearly arrests him simply for being a Black man.

The rest of the episode deals with how Terry handles the situation, but more importantly it truly opens up a conversation about how black people feel during situations like this when they're unjustly discriminated against, and what the outcomes and repercussions could be in said situations.

HalloVeen, Season 5 (9.5)

Holt, Peralta, and Santiago in the office with Halloween decorations in Brooklyn 99

Another season where two episodes tie for the top spot once again finds the annual Halloween Heist among the victors. There had been four seasons and four different winners leading up to season 5 and audiences had nothing more than guesses about who would take home the title this year.

However, the writers decided to throw everybody for a loop and didn't officially name anybody the winner - since Jake decided to use the heist as an opportunity to propose to Amy instead. Amy says yes, she and Jake become engaged, and the argument about who won the heist during season 5 continues to this day.

The Box, Season 5 (9.5)

Not only did this episode tie for the highest-rated Brooklyn 99 episode in the entire series, it's also the show's only bottle episode (so far). Jake and Holt have themselves a suspect who they're positive committed a murder, but their evidence isn't enough and they need to get a confession from him.

Throughout the entirety of the episode, Jake and Holt spend all night trying to crack the mastermind in the interrogation room, only to fail time after time and eventually come up empty-handed... that is, until Jake finally manages to come up with a strategy that is so clever and brilliant that he tricks the man into confessing everything about the murder. Oh damn!

Cinco De Mayo, Season 6 (9.2)

It wasn't technically Halloween but it was certainly a heist. Due to the show being picked up by NBC, it no longer aired during the same month as Halloween, causing a dilemma for the annual Halloween Heist. So, in order to distract Terry from his pending Lieutenant's exam, the rest of the precinct suggest a Cinco De Mayo heist instead.

Of course, the impromptu heist is all a ruse and everybody has been making plans for months, but it all falls apart when one of Jake's traps accidentally knocks Terry out cold right before his exam. However, Terry plays everybody and ends up winning the heist - and revealing that he already passed his exam and has become a lieutenant.

Lights Out, Season 7 (9.3)

The most recent season finale was the highest-rated episode that NBC has produced thus far as it followed the 99 simultaneously dealing with a city-wide blackout and Amy going into labor.

Jake and Charles spend the episode trying to get back to the precinct (after venturing out into the blackness to help the citizens) while Amy tries to manage her contractions and the blackout at the same time due to the fact that Holt and Terry get trapped in the precinct elevator. Eventually, it all works out as Amy and Jake make it to the hospital and welcome their newborn son, Mac, into the world.
