With Peralta's (Andy Samberg) outgoing personality and Diaz's (Stephanie Beatriz) introverted attitude, you wouldn't believe these two were friends. However, the pair have one of the strongest relationships as they continue to demonstrate unwavering loyalty to one another. When Jake needs a reality check, Rosa is there to provide him with one; when Rosa needs emotional support, Jake helps her work through it. They have had quite a few great moments, but here are the 10 purest of their relationship.

"1000 push-ups" (1 x 12)

In this episode, fans saw the introduction of The Pontiac Bandit, a.k.a. Doug Judy (Craig Robinson). Jake and Rosa decide to team up to catch this infamous car thief after Diaz brings in a perp that has information on the case. When Holt decides to give Rosa the lead, Jake is quick to invoke their pact - "1000 push-ups".

"1000 push-ups" is a pact Jake and Rosa came up with when they were in the academy together. Rosa says it was their way of saying "trust me", but if their hunch is wrong then they have to do the push-ups. Rosa takes the deal very seriously so she is hurt when Jake doesn't honor it. Jake asks her to officially join The Pontiac Bandit case and accepts the punishment to make it up to her.

Rosa helps Jake move on from Amy (2 x 03)

Rosa, Jake and Amy during Jimmy Jab games on Brooklyn Nine-Nine

"The Jimmy Jab Games" sees Rosa help Jake try to move on from his crush on Amy (Melissa Fumero). For the majority of season 1 and the beginning of season 2, Jake struggled with his feelings for Amy. Since Amy was dating Teddy (Kyle Bornheimer) at the time, Jake asks Rosa for her friend's number. When Rosa says no, Jake suggests she give him the number if he wins the Jimmy Jabs; if he doesn't, she'd get $200.

Jake loses but confesses to Rosa that he let Amy win. Rosa doesn't like seeing Jake upset, so she gives him the number to try and help him move on. It was a nice gesture considering she doesn't like to mix her work life with her personal one.

Jake gives up his Doug Judy vendetta for her (2 x 10)

Jake made the ultimate sacrifice for Rosa in "The Pontiac Bandit Returns" when he lets Doug Judy go. Rosa and Jake tracked him down but ran into a problem when Judy states he had information that would help Diaz's task force. Judy helped them with the case but escaped in the end.

Jake had to let him go as he knew how important the task force was to Rosa. He didn't even do this for Amy when they were supposed to be on a romantic cruise. As a thank you, Rosa promises to help Jake find him again.

Rosa divulges personal information (3 x 09)

In "The Swedes", Rosa and Jake's friendship took a huge step. Throughout the episode, they make numerous jibes about Soren (Anders Holm) and Agneta's (Riki Lindhome) relationship. However, it soon becomes clear that Jake is jealous of how much they disclose to one another.

Rosa states at the beginning that they don't have the relationship where they talk about their lives. She soon changes her mind by the end when she notices how upset Jake is. To make it up, Rosa tells Jake where he should take Amy on his anniversary and reveals the name of her boyfriend.

Rosa worries about their friendship (4 x 14)

In the episode "Serve & Protect", the squad is trying to find a way to save the precinct. After Teddy decided to resign, Terry's (Terry Crews) ex replaced him as the new audit. She seemed to be holding a grudge against the Lieutenant so it wasn't looking well for the nine nine.

Whilst Jake and Rosa were working a case, there was a nice moment between the two.  Rosa confesses to Jake that she worries she and Jake will not be friends or have the opportunity to work together if the precinct does close. Jake is quick to reassure Rosa that they will always be friends no matter what happens.

Rosa and Jake hug (4 x 20)

In "The Slaughterhouse", Jake and Rosa compete against each other to try and earn a place on Lt. Hawkins' (Gina Gershon) squad. As Jake and Rosa ruined her operation, Hawkins decides that the two detectives could help her solve the case. She offers one of them a place on her team as an incentive.

The rest of the episode sees a competitive rivalry grow between Jake and Rosa. However, they put it to rest when they discuss how much it would mean to one another, vouching for the other person when Hawkins asked who got the collar. Hawkins decides to pick both of them, which leads to the friends sharing a celebratory hug- their first.

Jake supports Rosa after she comes as Bi to her family (5 x 10)

Jake and Rosa's best moment came in the episode "Game Night" when Rosa asks Jake to help her come out to her family. Jake follows her out of the restaurant when she gets upset at her parents' reaction. When he finds out that Rosa is fine, he accepts her invitation to family game night.

The game night goes badly as the relationship between Rosa and her mother is strained. While Rosa's father (Danny Trejo) is willing to try and work on their relationship, he tells her that their gatherings will have to be put on hold. It's clear that Rosa is upset by the decision, so Jake and the squad decide to make another family game night for her.

Jake worries about Rosa (5 x 20)

The episode "Show Me Going" was tense for all. Everyone at the precinct is anxious as Rosa responds to a call involving an active shooter. As Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) orders the rest of the squad to carry on working, Jake struggles with not being able to do anything to help Rosa. When he hears that two officers have been shot, he becomes determined to get to the scene.

It takes some persuading by Holt but Jake decides to stay and help support the squad through the difficult time. When Rosa does return, Jake is the first one to hug her and offers to get her a drink.

Rosa worries about Jake's wellbeing (6 x 05)

The case in "The Crime Scene" sees both Jake and Rosa get emotionally invested after the victim's mother begs them to find her son's killer. While there were several moments in the episode that showed how great their partnership has developed (Jake and Rosa's 'first impressions' tactic), fans also saw Rosa lookout for Jake's well-being.

Jake is seen to struggle with the case as he can't seem to let it go. Rosa has to step in because it begins to affect his mental health, even weeks after the case is given to Major Crimes (fans know how much the squad hates them). Luckily they do solve the case, but it is only Rosa who sees how badly affected he is.

Jake encourages Rosa to go after Jocelyn (6 x 14)

Rosa and her girlfriend Jocelyn

In "Ticking Clocks", the nine nine are under pressure after a hacker attempts to break into their server. The squad, including Rosa and Jake, have to try to find them before this happens. However, they face another problem when Jocelyn (Cameron Esposito) decides to break-up with Rosa. Jake tries to console her with some advice, but Diaz appears unaffected.

As the episode continues, Rosa's true feelings are revealed; she doesn't want to lose Jocelyn as she loves her. Peralta then encourages her to go after Jocelyn since he has the situation under control. The scene shows huge character growth for Rosa as, with Jake's help, she's realized it's okay to feel vulnerable and fight for what she wants.
