Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a workplace cop comedy that is adored by their fans, both new and old. A big part of the show is the friendships that have formed between the detectives at the 99th precinct.

The standout friendship of the show is between none other than Jake Peralta and Charles Boyle. Charles has been rather obsessed with his best friend Jake since day one, and over time the feeling was definitely mutual.

They support each other through everything and always have each other's backs, whether it be at work or just in their personal lives. These are the 5 best things Charles did for Jake (& 5 Jake did for Charles) on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Charles: He Helped Jake Realize His Feelings For Amy

Say what you will about Charles Boyle and his oddball nature, but he is a great detective. This was proven many times over, but he was the first to realize Jake had feelings for Amy and he told him so.

Jake, of course, was in denial for a long time about it, but it was Charles who helped him realize his true feelings for Amy and it jump started the will-they-or-won't-they back and forth that Jake and Amy went through over the course of the first two seasons.

Luckily, they did get together and once they did, the rest was history, all thanks to Charles.

Jake: Not Being Mad Charles Had His Die Hard Moment

It is no secret on Brooklyn Nine-Nine that Jake Peralta's all-time favorite movie is Die Hard. He idolizes Bruce Willis and his character John McClane because of this, and would model his life after him if possible.

So when Jake and Gina are being held hostage on Christmas Eve at a store, it's Charles who has to jump into the action.

Jake and Gina are tied up with the other hostages when Charles bursts through the air vent and knocks the robbers out. He tries to utter the famous line from the movie and fails miserably, but instead of Jake being upset that he stole his moment, he was nothing but grateful to his best friend for saving their lives. It was a touching moment.

Charles: Taking Over 400 Pictures Of Jake At The Die Hard Building

As previously mentioned, Jake's favorite movie is Die Hard. So when the squad was in Los Angeles for a funeral and they passed the famous building, Jake couldn't pass up the opportunity to tour the facility.

He made everyone come with and had Charles be his personal photographer as he recapped where each scene took place. The line, "Take my picture with it!", was said so many times we lost count.

But Charles happily carried on taking pictures of him for over 2 hours until they had over 400 pictures to choose from. That is true dedication to friendship if we've ever seen one.

Jake: Encouraging Him To Date Genevieve

Back in season 3 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Charles lonely and single, feeling hopeless on his dating endeavors. But Jake was the ultimate wing man when they were at a courthouse and met a beautiful woman who seemed just as weirdly into odd foods as Charles.

Jake encouraged Charles to ask her out, and even when they learned she was the one on trial, they set out to prove her innocence. Jake was there the entire time by Charles' side to help achieve this and even when he had his doubts about Genevieve, he didn't give up.

They ended up being right about their hunch in the end, setting Genevieve free, and starting the best relationship of Charles' life.

Charles: When He Tried To Save Jake’s Honeymoon From Nutriboom

Nutriboom is a cult-like pyramid scheme that was first introduced in season 5 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It was in the Halloween Heist episode that year and Jake had signed off on being a part of it so he would be set free by "fake Charles" a.k.a. Bill, who works for the company.

This came back later when they were taking an insane amount of money from Jake and Charles and when Charles found out if Jake didn't get the money back, his honeymoon with Amy would be on the line, he became determined to make things right.

He didn't even care about his own money, his only concern was for Jake.

Jake: Asking Charles To Be His “BM”

Once Jake and Amy became engaged, Jake had to choose a best man for his wedding day. And Charles was obviously chomping at the bit to get the invite to take up that position in the wedding party.

He was fooled one day at the precinct into thinking Jake was asking him a simple favor instead of asking the ultimate question to be his "BM", but it turned out to be a joke because Jake had every intention of asking him to be his BM.

The way he did it was dramatic and perfect for Charles and of course, Charles was thrilled to be asked and quickly said yes to the offer.

Charles: His Bachelor Party Plans For Jake

After Jake made Charles his best man, next came the bachelor party. Turns out, Charles had been planning for Jake's bachelor party even before Jake met Amy, let alone got engaged to her.

He made elaborate plans including a scavenger hunt, a hostage situation, and Jake meeting one of his favorite actors from Die Hard. While this was a bit of a complicated bachelor party that Jake didn't fully follow, it was a really sweet gesture.

It also showed how much Charles cares about Jake and that he just wanted the night to be perfect, even if he did overdo it by a lot.

Jake: Shaving “Bianca” Off Of Charles’ Face

In one cold open of the hit series, we see Charles walk in with a large amount of facial hair. This was completely out of character for the clean-cut man and it just didn't look right on him.

He also referred to it as "Bianca", he said because "it's dark and thick like my first cousin Bianca." Yeah...a little gross but that's typical for Charles.

Jake stepped up at that moment and shaved the horrid beard off of his face as Charles cried out, "Bianca!" in front of the whole precinct. It may have been initially sad for Charles, but Jake did what had to be done for his best bud.

Charles: Putting A Wedding Together For Jake And Amy In 30 Minutes

On Jake and Amy's big day -- the day they were to be married -- literally everything went wrong. It was a total disaster with a bomb threat, their cake being ruined, and them subsequently not having a wedding venue.

So when it seemed like all hope was lost and Charles felt responsible for the bomb threat -- since he put their engagement announcement in the paper -- he told them to give him 30 minutes.

In that half-hour, he did the unthinkable and created a beautiful New York City scene in the back of their precinct. He paid attention to every last detail and they ended up have a gorgeous wedding they would always remember, once again, thanks to Charles.

Jake: Bringing A Replacement Toy For Charles’ Son

In season 4 of the show, there was a Christmas episode that showed just how dedicated Charles was to being a father for his adopted son, Nikolaj. His boy wanted a Captain Latvia action figure but it got lost in the mail and he was worried he wouldn't get it on Christmas.

It led to a series of events involving a Latvian gang and Jake and Charles trying to take them down and get the toy back. They were unsuccessful in retrieving the toy -- at least not unscathed -- but Jake decides to replace it with a policeman action figure.

This is so Nikolaj will still have a toy but this one will remind him of his father. It was such a beautiful thing to do for his best friend.
