The story of Bridgerton is unique as it focusses on one Bridgerton sibling at a time, and how they find love when it is their time to debut in society. With each new season, there has been a slew of old and new characters that enter the ton, and not all of them are main characters like the titular family.

Many side characters from seasons 1 and 2 have contributed richly to the show, and could easily be main characters in their own series too. From the acquaintances that the Bridgertons make to their servants in their grand homes, these characters have a lot going on in the ton but aren't delved into as deep as the others. Here are the supporting Bridgerton characters with the most main character energy.

Tessa

A very likable character in Bridgerton season 2, Tessa had limited screen time but an interesting story to tell. Being a woman in the 1800s was not easy, and the restrictions placed on them severely limited their options as they grew up - Tessa found a pretty gutsy way around this.

Women were not allowed to sit in art classes at the time so they couldn't learn, and her only way in was to work as a nude model to get lessons. Tessa went ahead and did that, assimilating knowledge while she modeled. Her story of rebellion is worth telling.

Henry And Lucy Granville

Henry Granville Artist Bridgerton

Bridgerton had its fair share of scandals, but most were borne out of desperation and a need to break out from the uptight and regressive social mores of the time. Henry and Lucy Granville were one such unconventional couple, who had a lavender marriage that allowed both parties to be their true selves without being harassed by the public.

Fans would love to see how they navigated their respective love stories before meeting each other, how they came up with the arrangement, and how it served them after they got married in the Regency Era.

Mary Sheffield Sharma

While Mary was quite the main character in the Bridgerton books, season 2 differed and made her a supporting role who wasn't around her kids much. However, she was one of the few debutantes who had openly rejected aristocracy and decided to marry an Indian clerk with no noble background.

Her journey from London to Bombay would have been fantastic and completely unheard of, which definitely made Mary a supporting figure with main character potential. It would be fascinating to see a prequel with her story.

Theo Sharpe

Viewers got to see very little of Eloise's love interest in the show, but they definitely hope to see more. Theo had all the makings of the perfect romantic hero - he was a feminist who wrote about his views, thought out of the box, and rejected the nobility, and he was practical and different from all the other suitors.

Theo was the ideal foil for Eloise and he was interesting by himself, and with Eloise as well. Fans want to see the young apprentice a little more in future seasons and hope that he doesn't meet a fate like Siena Rosso's.

Brimsley

Bridgerton Jonathan Bailey Anthony Bridgerton Hugh Sachs Brimsley Golda Rosheuvel Queen Charlotte

The Queen's butler and right-hand man Brimsley had probably seen so much of royal life that he could write a book. He was privy to the inner workings of Queen Charlotte's marriage, all the secrets of the royal household, as well as the politics and threats that she received.

Like Downton Abbey's downstairs staff, Bridgerton's servants probably had the most intriguing lives as they toed the line between being common but living in the world of nobles and aristocrats. Brimsley would have the most to say, besides Lady Whistledown.

King George III

Queen Charlotte's husband was not the happiest man, and age had not treated him well, but he had lived a life before his descent into mental illness. Historically, he was known to be a cultured man who introduced science into his education and started a new royal collection of books, and he was also a faithful husband.

Since a prequel about the Queen is already underway, even the showmakers recognize that the King would make for a great main character, especially in his youth.

Thomas Dorset

Kae and Mr.Dorset in a boat on the lake in Bridgerton season 2

Anthony's pal from Oxford was sent to be a distraction for Kate Sharma, but he has the potential to be a suitor in the future for one of the many debutantes in Bridgerton. Even though he was doing his friend a favor, he seemed to be a nice man who took a genuine interest in Kate's background.

Thomas came from a good family and also seemed well-traveled from the way he spoke. The mysterious Mr. Dorset would be a welcome addition to the main cast.

Mrs. Varley

Bridgerton Mrs. Varley

The Featherington's maid was by no means a nice woman. She was shrewd, mean, and as scheming as her employers, but her involvement with the Featheringtons and their plans was what made her so interesting.

In a way, Varley was also Portia's only confidante since her husband was dead and her daughters were too young to deal with finances and such. She probably had the most knowledge about the inner workings of the Featherington household, and fans would probably like to hear her end of the story too.
