Daphne strikes up a plan to with Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page) to fake a romance with him in order to make herself more appealing to other potential husbands. This plan however quickly falls apart when Daphne and Simon fall for each other and eventually wed. Will their love endure scandal and dark secrets or are the Duke and Duchess of Hastings simply engaging in a toxic Regency romanceBridgerton's decadent story is enhanced with lavish period costumes and incredible sets that perfectly recreate what life might've been like in 19th century upper-class English society.

A new behind-the-scenes video from BAFTA reveals the incredible amount of detailed work that went into creating the first season of Bridgerton. Everything from the makeup and costumes to the show's set design is immaculate. Check out what Production Designer Will Hughes-Jones had to say about creating the Featherington house entrance lobby and more in this behind-the-scenes glimpse of the world of Bridgerton below.

The Bridgerton production team did a fantastic job in creating a world that's believable in terms of historical accuracy without taking away from the story's tone of romantic fantasy. Hopefully the same team of talented designers and artists can return for season 2 of the popular series, which is reportedly scheduled to begin this March despite no official Bridgerton season 2 renewal from Netflix. It's difficult to envision Netflix failing to renew the series given the immense popularity of the first season.

The season 1 finale left fans with a lot of cliffhangers that could easily shape a second season that's just as exciting as the first. These include the chance other characters discover Lady Whistledown's true identity, the odds of Simon and Daphne's love surviving parenthood, and the significance of the bumblebee that was the final shot of season 1. There are a certainly a lot of questions remaining after Bridgerton season 1, which will hopefully be answered with decadent new sets, costumes, characters and a whole batch of juicy scandals.
