Bridgerton star Simone Ashley has revealed her ideal season 3 storyline for Kate and Anthony. The Netflix record-breaking Bridgerton season 2 saw the romance series shift focus away from Phoebe Dynevor's Daphne and her husband, Simon (Regé-Jean Page), and onto her older brother, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey). In the latest installment, Anthony is immersed in a love triangle with two newcomers to "the Ton," Sharma sisters Kate (Ashley) and Edwina (Charithra Chandran). After an intense and tumultuous journey, Kate and Anthony were ultimately united by the end of Bridgerton season 2.

The last scene of Bridgerton season 2 left Kate and Anthony as happy newlyweds, with Kate now taking on the title of viscountess alongside her husband. While the focus of Bridgerton season 3 is set to once again move on to the relationship between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), Kate and Anthony are both expected to return in supporting roles as members of the wider Bridgerton family, with Ashley confirming her involvement back in March. This would be keeping in step with Daphne's return in season 2, providing a glimpse at her and Simon's young baby after their season 1 romance. Page, however, did not return after exiting Bridgerton altogether.

Now, Ashley has revealed her ideal storyline for Kate and Anthony's own return in Bridgerton season 3. In an interview with IMDb, the actor addressed her hopes for seeing the newly married pair working together as a team. However, Ashley also had one very specific development in mind for Kate and Anthony's narrative: that they would have children of their own. Read her comments below:

"I'm excited to see Kate become viscountess and head of the household ... I think she has much to learn from Anthony. They'll be two little partners, doing it together ... I'd love to see them have a baby, to put it simply. Maybe that will happen, maybe it won't. But hopefully, it will."

Ashley Simone in Bridgerton Season 2

Given that Dynevor's Daphne Bridgerton not only returned in season 2 but also played quite a significant role in Anthony's storyline, it's certainly possible that audiences will be seeing plenty of Kate and Anthony in season 3. Perhaps the pair will take on Daphne's season 2 role in guiding Colin during his upcoming troubles in love. In the original Bridgerton novel series by Julia Quinn, Kate and Anthony have four children — Edmund, Miles, Charlotte and Mary. Considering the Netflix series' history with largely staying true to Quinn's work, it is likely that Ashley will get her wish, and that their children will move from the page to the screen in Bridgerton season 3.

Of course, Kate and Anthony's children will by no means be the focus of Bridgerton season 3, if they do appear. Alongside an already confirmed core romance plot centering on Penelope and Colin, season 3 also has the fallout of Eloise's Lady Whistledown discovery to address. As Kate and Anthony assume their new roles as heads of the Bridgerton family, they are guaranteed to face a new set of challenges as Kate's siblings-in-law grow more embroiled in the Ton's drama. That said, it will no doubt be interesting to see the head-strong and clever Kate take on her new role as viscountess in Bridgerton season 3, and whether her and Anthony will butt heads once again over managing the family.
