Netflix releases new images from Bridgerton season 2, with one showing Anthony Bridgerton with his new love interest, Kate Sharma. Bridgerton is a period drama produced by Shonda Rhimes, based on the book The Duke and I, the first in a series of novels written by Julia Quinn. Bridgerton season 1 was seen in 82 million households worldwide, making it the most-watched Netflix show at the time. With the series becoming a hit, the show was quickly renewed for a second season. Bridgerton season 2 is based on the second book in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.
As evidenced by the source material's title, Bridgerton season 2 shifts its focus to Anthony, who will be the main character this time around. He has been at the forefront of Netflix's marketing campaign, with the first Bridgerton season 2 clip focusing on what looks to be a rocky romance between Anthony and Kate. With the new season's release date fast approaching, there are new images to check out, and once again the central couple is a main focus.
Netflix released a collection of stills from Bridgerton season 2 via Twitter. In these images where a few ensemble photos and a solo shot of Penelope Featherington, who was revealed to be Lady Whistledown in the season finale. The image that excited fans the most, however, was one photo of Anthony Bridgerton (played by Johnathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (played by Simone Ahsley), who will be Anthony’s love interest for season 2. While Bridgerton season 2 will feature a number of returning faces, these images continue to highlight Anthony and Kate's arc will be the driving force behind the narrative. It will be interesting to see how their relationship progresses over the course of the season, and if the romance can possibly top Daphne and Simon's romance from Bridgerton season 1. Though Regé-Jean Page is not reprising Simon Basset in Bridgerton season 2, his dynamic with Daphne left a lasting impact and it will be impossible to not compare the two. Hopefully, Anthony and Kate's romance will be just as compelling to watch unfold, making Bridgerton season 2 another massive hit for Netflix.
The release of new Bridgerton season 2 images marks what could be the start of a big marketing push ahead of the season's premiere later this month. Given the show's popularity, Netflix will want to build upon the already high levels of anticipation and give viewers additional looks at what to expect. In any future advertising materials, Anthony and Kate should be a focus, shedding more light on their romance. However, Netflix will probably keep some details hidden until Bridgerton season 2 finally arrives, in order to preserve some of the surprises and secrets.
