Bridgerton season 2 star Nicola Coughlan teases viewers can expect a heart-pounding finale. Shondaland's inaugural collaboration with Netflix took the world by storm when it premiered in 2020, quickly becoming one of the streaming giant's most successful original series of all time. Based on the bestselling romance novels by Julia Quinn, the screen adaptation centers on the Bridgerton siblings' search for love in high society London. Season 1 ended with a major bang, unveiling the identity of the series' narrator Lady Whistledown to be none other than Penelope Featherington (Coughlan).

Before season 2 drops on March 25, Coughlan took to Twitter to reveal viewers can expect a propulsive Bridgerton season 2 finale. The star said that it left her genuinely breathless throughout. Check out Coughlan's statement below:

It's exciting to hear Coughlan's reaction to the last episode of season 2. The performer was herself a huge part of season 1's epic finale, so her response means a lot to viewers. Many are wondering what's to come for her character Penelope and the salacious alter ego she's created in Lady Whistledown. Coughlan has been teasing a more manipulative Whistledown in Bridgerton season 2, which could up the drama.

Of course, a shocking season 2 finale isn't all that surprising when Shonda Rhimes is involved. The shows she creates and produces are known for twisty writing that leaves audiences wanting more. However, Bridgerton seems to be following its novel predecessors fairly closely, so if viewers really want to know major plot lines to come, they can always crack open a book for a hint.
