Now that Bridgerton fans binged season 2, more and more is coming out about the next season. Recently, Jonathan Bailey (Viscount Anthony Bridgerton) was interviewed for The Wrap and explained how hopeful he was for a baby for Kate and Anthony in season 3.
Aside from a baby for the newlyweds, Reddit has other hopes and theories for season 3. After all, season 2 touched base on Eloise's surprise at Lady Whistledown's identity, Colin's true feelings for Penelope, and the Featheringtons' unknown future. Reddit loved season 2 of Bridgerton but season 3 could be even better.
Kate & Eloise's Relationship Dissected
Eloise had some of the best quotes in Bridgerton. She was strong, independent, and went against the norm. She didn't want to marry a man because she was "supposed" to. She wanted to work on things that actually mattered, like equality. In many ways, Kate was a lot like Eloise.
In season 3, Redditor Maevewileys hopes that viewers see Kate and Eloise team up. "I feel like Kate, out of all the female characters introduced so far, is the one who can understand Eloise better so I am definitely looking forward to their relationship next season," they wrote.
A Deeper Look At Penelope & Colin's New Dynamic
At the end of season 2, one of the more memorable Bridgerton quotes was said by Colin. At the ball, Colin told his friends that although he danced with Penelope, he would never court her and she would only ever be a friend.
Penelope overheard Colin and was devastated by his true feelings. One of her final scenes was her running away in tears. However, Ashylikeashley noted that "Every season ends with a cliffhanger for the next romance." Because of this, Colin and Penelope's love story could take over season 3, which would be more exciting than Benedict's.
What If Daphne Repaired Eloise & Pen's Friendship?
As the season's diamond in season 1, Daphne delivered some of Bridgerton's best quotes about love. Now happily married and a mother, her role in season 2 was based on being a present sister to her brother Anthony. If Daphne continues to make appearances in season 3, lavender-blueskies thinks her role should be mending Eloise and Penelope's friendship.
They wrote, "[Daphne] knows what it is to lie to the person that means the most to you bc [sic] you think you are protecting them, and also how important forgiveness and second chances are." They continued by saying, "I think it would make sense if she tried to help bc [sic] she would understand both sides of the conflict, seeing as it is a similar situation to her and Edwina's relationship in s2."
Benedict's New Romance
It's been said that the producer, Shonda Rhimes, is following the books for the Netflix series but that doesn't mean she's going to follow the story's exact order. Based on the novels, season 3 of Bridgerton should focus on Benedict's romance with Sophie.
Youknowwhattheysay12 mentioned that as much as they love Benedict and Sophie in the books, maybe season 3 shouldn't be all about them. "Maybe it would be a good idea to introduce Sophie as a side character and build up her story," they wrote. "It would be a genuinely interesting side plot" if Benedict and Sophie met at the ball and spent the entire season pining after each other.
Penelope Helps The Featheringtons' Financial Situation
As the mysterious Lady Whistledown, Penelope was becoming quite successful with her town gossip column. The biggest scandals came from Lady Whistledown's memos, after all. Penelope hid all of the money she made from the street sheet under the floorboards in her bedroom. In season 2, it became clear that Penelope had made some serious coin.
Because Penelope's family struggled so much with their finances, Hi_l0la thinks she's going to pull through for the Featheringtons and help out. They wrote, "I believe Penelope will be using her LW money to help her family." "It's just a matter of how it can be done without them knowing how she got the money." Penelope helping her family would change a lot for the Featheringtons' role in society.
Will We Get More Francesca?
Many people forget about the sixth Bridgerton child, Francesca. Due to scheduling conflicts, the actress who played Francesca was barely shown in season 2 but fans are hoping that changes in season 3.
Maybefaraway wrote that their biggest hope for the new season was "more Francesca." They continued, "I think there is so much potential to begin her story in interesting ways next season." "From what I read, it sounds like the showrunners are hopeful they can make Francesca more of a character in S3, which is really exciting." Having more Francesca in season 3 would add even more subplots to the Bridgerton family dynamic.
A Quicker Release!
Every Bridgerton fan has a favorite character that they either admire, resonate with, or have a crush on — that's the beauty of the show. Due to the pandemic, season 2 of Bridgerton came out two years after the first season. For many, this was far too long to wait to follow the story of the Bridgerton family.
Gcnmill explained the one thing they hope to get in season 2 is, humorously, a quicker release date. They joked, "I know season 2 took longer due to Covid delays. I need season 3 out ASAP to get my Kanthony fix." This Redditor may get their wish because Pop Buzz noted that filming for season 3 is supposed to take place this summer.
A Smythe-Smith Musicale
There's no doubt that Bridgerton would make a fantastic musical. The whimsy and romance make it the perfect set-up for the characters to break out into song.
The books (authored by Julia Quinn) had the annual Smythe-Smith musicale for the Bridgertons and the ton to attend. In the book, the music was never good but it was customary to attend. Having a scene where the ton is forced to attend the Smythe-Smith musicale would be humorous. Soggy-Tomato wrote, "A Smythe-Smith musical? I want to see this monstrosity in full glory!"
Penelope Should Make Colin Work For It
Readers of the novels know that Colin and Penelope do eventually fall in love. But it's a long way coming after season 2 ended with Penelope hearing Colin's true feelings. In season 3, Hawaii_gal71LA4869 hopes that Penelope shows Colin what he's missing.
"I would like to see Penelope mature, get glammed up, and make Colin work for her," they wrote. Others agreed that giving Penelope a chance at redemption is just what the new season needs.
How Did Anthony & Kate Turn Out?
At the end of season 2, Kate and Anthony were newlyweds, happily playing lawn games with the rest of the Bridgertons. Anthony had some of the best quotes from season 2, simply because he was in love with Kate despite being engaged to Kate's sister, Edwina.
While each season focuses on a new Bridgerton couple, fans are still hoping to see more of them in season 3. Zankazanka wrote, "I think Anthony being the eldest and now Kate as his wife, they are likely going to be involved in the future siblings' matches. I can’t wait to see an Anthony who can relax a little more now that he has his love match to help him with everything."
