Eloise might seem like she will never find romance in Netflix’s Bridgerton, but Netflix might have teased how Eloise’s future love story could play out in the show during TUDUM. Unlike her sister, Daphne, who was eager to find a match, Eloise has no interest in marriage, making her story far less predictable than those of her siblings. However, a comment from Claudia Jessie, who brings Eloise to life, might have provided insight into Eloise’s future, setting the stage for a time jump in the process.

Netflix’s TUDUM features a segment with Bridgerton actors Claudia Jessie and Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) paint portraits while interviewing each other about their characters. In response to Newton, Jessie mentions she “can’t play a teenager forever.” Although this seems like an offhand comment, it has increased significance when considered in the context of Eloise’s story in the original Bridgerton novels. Eloise’s story is told in To Sir Phillip, With Love, featuring Eloise as a 28-year-old spinster when she finally finds love. This detail suggests Jessie’s comment might have teased Eloise’s future in the TV adaptation as well.

The first two seasons of Bridgerton take place back-to-back, but Jessie’s comment at TUDUM along with Eloise’s original storyline suggest that this might change during Eloise’s turn in the spotlight on the Netflix show. Since Eloise is a spinster in her Bridgerton novel, it would be impossible for her story to take place only a few years after the current seasons of Bridgerton. This, along with Jessie’s remark about her character’s age, seems to tease an impending time jump in the Bridgerton universe in order to accurately adapt Eloise’s story.

Which Bridgerton Season Will Tell Eloise's Book Story?

Potentially introducing a time jump into Bridgerton gives the show nearly infinite opportunities as to which the best season to tell Eloise’s story is. The first two seasons of Bridgerton follow the order of the original novels, which seems to suggest that the show will adhere to the release order of the novels. However, while the third Bridgerton book tells Benedict’s story, season 3 is already confirmed to be about Colin, meaning that the release order of the novels is not an accurate measurement of when Eloise’s story (which takes place during the fifth Bridgerton book) will be told onscreen.

Bridgerton has been renewed through season 4, and while it is not officially confirmed which Bridgerton sibling will take center stage in the fourth season, it will most likely be Benedict. Delaying Eloise’s feature until later in Bridgerton might make sense given her spinster storyline, as this would allow the actors more time to look the part of their aged characters. The show won’t likely put off Eloise’s story too long, though, as the show has not developed any of the younger Bridgerton siblings’ characters, so it doesn’t make sense to tell their stories before Eloise’s. It makes the most sense to tell Eloise’s story during season 5 of Bridgerton, which would coincidentally align with the order her novel was released in.

As one of Bridgerton’s best breakout characters, Eloise’s story will surely be one of the Netflix series’ most unique entries, particularly if the show explores a time jump, as Claudia Jessie’s comments during TUDUM seem to allude. This time jump would mark new territory for Bridgerton’s storytelling, which would open up nearly infinite possibilities for future seasons. While Bridgerton fans cannot be 100% certain as to when Eloise’s story will be told, the future that Jessie teased both for her character and the show during TUDUM confirms that Eloise’s storyline will be one of Bridgerton’s most exciting seasons yet.
