Even more so, there are a lot of couples for fans to root for, and others that they really don’t understand or care for. It’s time to separate the ton into their romantic categories - based on who made fans swoon and who made them annoyed.

Can’t Stand: Cressida Cowper & Prince Friedrich

Prince Friedrich & Cressida Cowper.

This one is probably just because fans can’t stand Cressida Cowper. She’s selfish, arrogant, manipulative, and obsessed with power and status. She was certainly not good enough for the prince.

While fans didn’t care that she was stealing him from a possible marriage with Daphne, they certainly cared that someone as nice as the prince could end up with Cressida - of all the characters.

Swoon Over: Marina Thompson & Sir George

Marina reading a letter.

Fans never actually get to meet Sir George, yet all they can do is hope that Marina’s love will finally return for her. To everyone’s disappointment, he doesn’t, and everyone was a bit sad for Marina over it.

While she seems to have a lovely chance at happiness with his brother, there was something that convinced fans he would return for her - despite the Featheringtons’ chance at stopping it.

Can’t Stand: Portia & Lord Featherington

The Featheringtons.

As much as fans might not like Portia, there is some sympathy for her when it comes to her marriage. Lord Featherington doesn’t care about any of his family, really, and even gambles all their money away.

Portia deserves at least a little better, and fans really can’t stand either one of them. They’re both inherently selfish and make bad choices, and their romance was nothing to be jealous of.

Swoon Over: Daphne Bridgerton & Prince Friedrich

Prince Friedrich putting a necklace on Daphne.

Daphne actually makes this list twice, and somehow, she was able to have fans swooning over her with two different men. While everyone hoped in their hearts that she’d end up with the duke, the prince was a decent option.

He was handsome and kind, and everyone watching would have definitely accepted his proposal. Regardless of their love for Simon, this prince still had fans swooning.

Can’t Stand: Philipa Featherington & Albion Finch

Philipa Featherington & Albion Finch.

There’s really nothing to swoon over when it comes to any of the Featheringtons, but there’s something especially off-putting about Philipa and Prudence.

Philipa finally gets her chance at love with Albion Finch, and while it seems pretty adorable in an innocent and fun way, Finch also has no interest in marrying Philipa until her dowry has been returned. So, it’s hard to really root for them too much.

Swoon Over: Violet & Lord Bridgerton

Eloise, Violet, & Hyacinth.

Lord Bridgerton is another character that fans actually never get to meet, but they do such an incredible job convincing viewers that his love with Violet was something truly magical.

Violet is a lovable and kind character - and truly misses her husband, and talks of him with such grace and love. Their romance is a goal for Daphne in her own life, and fans are swooning over the love they have.

Can’t Stand: Marina Thompson & Colin Bridgerton

Colin Bridgerton & Marina Thompson.

This couple wasn’t totally unlikable, but Colin was young and naive and Marina was manipulating him and wanting him for the wrong reasons. In another world, these two could have made it.

However, it was really hard for fans to root for them in any capacity when they knew Colin was in the dark, and Marina didn’t actually care for him. It could have been if there wasn’t so much deceit.

Swoon Over: Benedict Bridgerton & Genevieve Delacroix

Genevieve & Benedict.

There really isn’t that much to know about this couple yet, but fans can definitely get behind it. Benedict a kind and gentle soul, and it’s nice for viewers to see him choosing love over status.

Plus, Genevieve is a mysterious and smart woman, and it’s hard not to love the strength she brings to the table. Fans look forward to seeing more of this couple in the new season.

Can’t Stand: Anthony Bridgerton & Siena Rosso

Anthony & Siena in bed.

Besides the clear fact that these two are socially not supposed to be together, fans really also don’t see the appeal. Mainly, it’s probably because neither Siena nor Anthony are inherently likable.

These two don’t really seem to have much else besides passion, and their little forbidden love story is a bit repetitive and strained. It’s probably best that they moved on.

Swoon Over: Daphne Bridgerton & Simon Basset

Simon & Daphne dancing at a ball.

Regardless of what anyone says about this couple, it really is hard not to root for them. As far as romances go in television series, these two have a burning passion that’s impossible to ignore.

They’re both intelligent and fiery, and they’re one couple that fans are more than glad resolved their differences. Love conquers all, and these two prove it - while fans swooned over them every second.
