Season 2 of Bridgerton is shaping up to be an interesting one, with the Sharma family joining the ton. Like the first, this second season is based on a novel from Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, in particular, The Viscount Who Loved Me. Since the book is mainly about Anthony and his love interest, Kate, the show is likely to put more focus on them this time around.

As one of the most anticipated couples from the series, many are excited to see Kanthony come to life. Their story is filled with angst, witty banter, drama, and steamy romance, which fans are looking forward to seeing on screen. While the show won't be able to include every single thing from the book, there are some fan-favorite scenes that most fans hope will be part of the season.

The Meet Not-So-Cute Between Anthony & Kate

Kate and Anthony outside of a party in Bridgerton

When Colin met Kate, she was not subtle about her dislike of Anthony. Feeling mischievous, Colin lied to Anthony that Kate spoke only good things of him and convinced his brother to meet her. Since Anthony wished to court her sister, he saw no issue with this until he realized Colin had lied and Kate practically detested him.

The first look at season 2 showed a scene between Anthony and Kate which seemed like their first proper interaction. In the scene, Kate is as headstrong and direct as she is in the book and she doesn't hesitate to tell Anthony off. From the glowing fan reactions to the Bridgerton season 2 teaser, the series promises to deliver an accurate portrayal of their relationship.

Sisterhood

Sharma Family in Bridgerton season 2

The story begins with Kate, Edwina, and Mary in their home discussing Lady Whistledown's recent account of the viscount being a reprehensible rake. Despite their difference in age, the two sisters joined the season together and their discussion revolved around prospects of a match. During this conversation, Kate outright stated that Anthony wasn't an option for either of them.

Kate's relationship with her step-sister and step-mother is a key feature of her story. Unlike most cliché stories with step-parents and step-siblings, their relationship is a good, loving one. The first season captured the interesting dynamic of the Bridgerton family, as well as that of the Featheringtons. With the addition of the Sharma family, it will be interesting to see how their unique family bond plays out.

Anthony Visits With Flowers

After Anthony's first meeting with Kate and Edwina, he went to their home to call on them the next day. Edwina was out so Kate and Anthony sat and talked for a while before Mary joined them. Like most suitors, he brought flowers for Edwina, but also extra bouquets for Kate and Mary — a gesture he copied from Simon. Kate was touched by his kindness, as no one else had ever bought her flowers.

Anthony was overprotective and one of the most frustrating characters in Bridgerton during the first season. This kind gesture shows another side of him and paints him in a better light. It's a pivotal moment in their relationship that will, hopefully, make it to the screen.

Edwina's Fall In The Lake & Anthony's Rescue

While Kate and Anthony were on a walk orchestrated by Mary, Kate lost control of her dog, Newton, and he ran towards the lake. Unfortunately, Edwina was in the same area and when Newton saw her, he leaped at her and she fell into the lake. Anthony saved her from the water and took her home in a borrowed carriage, leaving Kate to be escorted home by Nigel Berbrooke.

The commotion Newton caused was funny and memorable, especially when he shook his wet, furry body upon Kate's command and got Anthony wet. Season 1 had some lighthearted moments and this is one of the best ones from the book that would be fun to see in the second installment.

Pall Mall With The Bridgertons

Bridgerton Season 2 Eloise Anthony Colin

Daphne, Simon, Anthony, and Colin invited Kate and Edwina to play Pall Mall during their stay at Aubrey Hall. The game was a family tradition that brought out a competitive streak in the Bridgertons. Even Kate got into the spirit of things and sank Anthony's ball into the lake.

Unlike most of the scenes in the book, this one puts Kate and Anthony with the rest of their family and it's quite an intriguing dynamic. It helped Kate see his devotion to his family, one of Anthony's most redeemable qualities on Bridgerton. Anthony also realized then that he was more interested in Kate than Edwina.

Kate Hiding From The Storm & Anthony Rescuing Her

Kate facing at Anthony in Bridgerton

Kate's fear of lightning and thunder was addressed several times in The Viscount Who Loved Me. When a storm started while she was in the Aubrey Hall library, she hid under a table and Anthony came to her rescue. He sat and comforted her and they exchanged things about each other that they hadn't shared with anyone else. By the time they emerged from under the table, they'd formed a friendship.

Ironically, this wasn't the first time he'd found her hiding under a table, but unlike the moment that led to their first kiss, he was considerably less rude. The scene shows Anthony's chivalrous side and it's a huge turning point for their feelings towards each other. It offers a change of pace from the man fans saw in the first season where he mostly straddled the line between being protective and downright insufferable.

The Proposal

A bee on a doorknob in Bridgerton season 1

Similar to Simon and Daphne, Anthony became betrothed to Kate when they were caught in a compromising position by their respective mothers and Mrs. Featherington. At the time, Kate had finally given Anthony her blessing to wed Edwina, despite the feelings she'd developed for him. Unbeknownst to her, Anthony was also struggling with conflicting feelings for her.

The bee that stung Kate and sent Anthony into a panic proved to be a blessing in disguise. It was the symbol of the mortality he struggled with since his father died from a bee sting but became the reason he found love. His thoughts of death were a central storyline throughout the book and it would be interesting to see how its impact on his relationship with Kate plays out on screen.

"I Burn For You."

Because of their hasty marriage, Kate felt insecure and worried that Anthony would picture someone else when he was with her since he was forced to marry her. When she expressed her insecurities about her desirability while they were in bed, he reassured her with the words, "I burn for you."

Kate and Anthony's relationship escalated quickly, from enemies to something resembling friends, and then marriage. Since he was initially interested in her sister, whom most said was more beautiful than her, it's no surprise she was insecure for a while when their marriage began. His confession of his attraction to her helped her work through that until he finally realized and confessed that he truly loved her.

Kate's Carriage Accident & A Confession Of Love

Although he vowed not to, Anthony fell in love with Kate, and when he went to tell her, she was out with Edwina and her suitor, Mr. Bagwell, on a carriage ride. He followed and found them just as their carriage overturned. Luckily, only Kate was injured but still alive and he confessed his love to her right then.

For someone who was adamant that he wouldn't fall in love, it was heartwarming to read of Anthony accepting his feelings and sharing them with Kate. As one of their best scenes, it's sure to match the beauty of Daphne's confession of love in the Bridgerton finale.

The Epilogue

The Bridgertons standing outside their home in Bridgerton

The epilogue in The Viscount Who Loved Me jumps almost a decade ahead. It shows the couple enjoying marital bliss and gives subtle details about the futures of the rest of the Bridgertons. Most importantly, Anthony is celebrating his 39th birthday.

Throughout the book, Anthony harbored fears that he wouldn't live past 38, like his father. With Kate's help, he slowly let go of that and this 39th birthday celebration was a moment of triumph that deserves to be seen, like the epilogue-style scene of the Duke and Daphne having their first child at the end of season 1.
