The rivalry between WWE Hall of Famers Bret Hart and Goldberg is over two decades old at this point, but that doesn't prevent The Hitman from taking shots at his former WCW rival whenever the opportunity arises. Since 1999, Hart has seemingly seized every opportunity to bury the former World Champion. Even when Bill's name isn't mentioned, it seems like Bret goes out of his way to take shots at Goldberg, even as both of their careers appear to have ended. With Crown Jewel less than a month away, it seems unlikely that "Da Man" will be tabbed by WWE to participate in the event, leaving his wrestling career in the air since his contract has expired.

For the (somehow) uninitiated, Hart's issues with Goldberg date back to a match between the two men in 1999. An errant kick concussed The Hitman, forcing him into early retirement. He's never forgiven Goldberg for the botch, as evidenced by a recent comment during a K&S WrestleFest signing. When asked who he wished he could have wrestled, Hart said: "Kurt Angle would have been one of my primary guys. He always wanted to work with me, and I wish I could've worked with him. I would have loved to work with Brock Lesnar just because I always heard he was a good pro in the ring. The opposite of Goldberg." Hart also said he would have loved to have worked with Rey Mysterio, stating that he's the "only one great masked wrestler in the history of wrestling." Hart's One-Sided Feud With Goldberg Is Sad At This Point

Earlier this summer, Goldberg stated he was done apologizing to Hart for what had happened. He stated that he'd take what occurred between the two men at Starcade "to the grave" while saying he wouldn't continue tearing himself down about it. Comments like these from Bret Hart probably make moving on complex, and at this point, the beef between the two all-time greats is nothing short of sad.

One can see where Hart is coming from and why he'd be upset over what went down in 1999. Harboring resentment for so long can't be good for him, however. Yet this comment during a K&S WrestleFest signing mainly came unprompted. The "opposite of Goldberg" line seemed to have been designed to hurt, and based on Goldberg's comments, it likely did sting. Hart is 65, and Goldberg is 55. Here's to hoping the two WWE Hall of Famers can eventually find common ground. Even if that common ground happens to be not taking digs at each other more than 20 years after Hart's injury occurred.
