In a recent TikTok meet-and-greet, Brendan Fraser gives a heartwarming response to appreciation from a fan. Fraser has been making headlines recently with announcements that he will be appearing in two hotly-anticipated upcoming movies, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, and Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale. These announcements came shortly after audiences saw Fraser appear in the recently-released No Sudden Move, the latest film from Steven Soderbergh, leaving many hoping a comeback of sorts is on the cards for the beloved actor.

Fraser became a household name in 1999 after the release of The Mummy, with his star power only growing throughout the early 2000s with films like The Mummy Returns, Encino Man, and Crash. After the disappointing third and final Mummy sequel in 2008, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Fraser essentially disappeared from Hollywood due to various issues in his personal life. Fraser started to reappear in movies and television in 2019, most notable with his role as Cliff Steele in HBO Max’s Doom Patrol series. In Killers of the Flower Moon, based on David Grann’s book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, Fraser is set to play lawyer WS Hamilton alongside co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.

While in Oklahoma preparing for the Killers of the Flower Moon shoot, Fraser did a virtual meet-and-greet with popular TikToker littlelottiecosplay, where he jokingly expressed his nervousness at the prospect of working with Scorsese, DiCaprio, and De Niro, saying: “I think I might be sick”. LittleLottieCosplay was quick to respond, assuring him: “The Internet is so behind you. We’re so supportive. There are so many people out there who love you, and we’re rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.” Fraser appeared to get choked up at the sentiment and had a sip of water before tipping his hat and saying: “Shucks, ma’am.

With several high-profile projects on the horizon, many fans are hoping for a “Brenaissance” of sorts, feeling a comeback for the actor is long overdue. After all, Fraser’s disappearance from the limelight in the mid-2000s was surprising given the general appreciation that fans around the world have for him and his movies. With reports of health problems, including multiple surgeries and hospital stays over the course of seven years, a costly divorce, and even Fraser’s own claims that he had been sexually assaulted by the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and subsequently blacklisted from Hollywood, many fans feel that the actor was dealt a bad hand and Fraser is deserving of a return to stardom.

If Killers of the Flower Moon ends up being a hit, which is likely given that it’s a Scorsese film, the “Brenaissance” might reach even greater heights. With Hollywood’s love of reviving old IP and the general love of the original Mummy franchise, there’s always the possibility that Fraser’s popularity might lead to some sort of reboot or fourth sequel to 1999’s The Mummy. Whether Fraser would have any interest in reprising his role as Rick O’Connell remains to be seen, but it’s clear that fans want Fraser back in movies, and Fraser seems all too happy to oblige.
