The beastly Lynel is a formidable foe in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, but one crafty player was able to immobilize it with the ice-pillar generating Cryonis Rune. There have been many secret tricks uncovered within Nintendo's recent open world adventure, which launched on the Switch to great success back in 2017.

Players have figured out how to open impossible treasure chests, obtain the legendary Master Sword by simply camping out right next to it, and use Breath Of The Wild’s new Master Cycle as a motorboat. Others have uncovered small secrets and hidden tidbits about the world of Hyrule itself, such as sheep believably huddling together during in-game rainstorms and the sneaky Yiga Clan being able to steal Link’s most prized weapons if he isn’t too careful.

Reddit user Chicken_Vomit_ is the latest Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild player to pull off a cool trick in-game, and has posted a video of their fateful encounter with a centaur-like Lynel to the Zelda subreddit yesterday. Lynels are one of the most dangerous types of enemy in the game, and a solution like this is sure to come in handy for more than a few players. In this video, Link imprisons the beast with his Cryonis Rune power, stunning it with a shock arrow and then trapping it between blocks of ice so that it can't escape. Once it’s trapped, Link proceeds to pummel the Lynel with his sword until it falls - a once-challenging opponent taken down with some clever use of magic.

Zelda fans have been buzzing over word that Nintendo is working on a Breath Of The Wild sequel for 2022, though the game is under such a veil of secrecy that not even its actual subtitle has been announced yet for fear of spoilers. Adding to the excitement is the Zelda franchise’s 35th anniversary this year, which Nintendo promises will be filled with other tantalizing announcements and events. Not everything has been smooth sailing though, as a hacker was recently arrested for selling modified BOTW save files for profit.

Watching Chicken_Vomit_ take down a Lynel with some well-placed ice blocks in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is certainly impressive, It serves as yet another example of just how intricate the combat system in Nintendo’s latest Zelda game is, as well as the level of skill and dedication shared by its many fans. It goes to show that even a mighty Lynel can be brought down with a trusty block prison and a bit of strategy - something Link has in abundance in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.
