Trailers for highly-anticipated movies are always a big deal; however, there's been a peculiar trend of late where studios have started releasing teasers for the actual trailers. Case in point: Marvel unveiled a teaser for the Avengers button that is being shown with Captain America - and Lionsgate released two second-long previews in advance of the first Hunger Games trailer.
Summit started the trend when it released a teaser clip of the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - and has now repeated the act by dropping a preview of the second Breaking Dawn trailer online.
The first Breaking Dawn - Part 1 short preview highlighted one of the major events in the movie - the marriage of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). With the teaser for the second trailer, we get a glimpse of the film's other big plot point: Bella's pregnancy.
For those not up to scratch on their Twilight lore: While on their honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro, Bella and Edward "finally give in to their passions" - resulting in some significant property damage, lots of feathers (don't ask), and Bella being knocked up. That's when things take a turn for the disturbingly horrific, as was discussed during the 2011 Comic-Con Twilight panel a couple months back.
Check out the 15-second teaser for the second Breaking Dawn - Part 1 trailer (via Yahoo! Movies) below:
So, yeah, in the penultimate Twilight movie, it turns out that Bella's human/vampire hybrid offspring is not only developing at an unprecedented speed - but the physical strain is literally going to kill Bella before she can actually give birth. Clearly, no one in the Twilight universe ever saw season three of Angel - or "The Same Old Story" from season one of Fringe - otherwise, they would have been much more aware of the dangers that come with either vampiric pregnancies and/or unnatural fetuses that develops at an extremely accelerated rate. ;-)
Breaking Dawn - Part 1 could actually attract the attention of non-Twihards who are curious about how the now infamously bizarre plot turns in Stephenie Meyer's source material actually play out on the big screen. The previous Twilight flick, Eclipse, ventured into true horror territory by adding some gruesome vampire-related violence to the mix (courtesy of director David Slade) and played better with casual moviegoers, as a result. So perhaps the first half of Breaking Dawn can top that act.
Then again, seeing how a good chunk of the movie revolves around Bella and Edward on their honeymoon (re: lots of cuddling, longing gazes, awkward conversations, etc.), Twilight haters might not be willing to sit through all that just to see some weird vampire sex and birthing go down.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 opens in U.S. theaters on November 18th, 2011.
Be sure to check back in next Tuesday, when the second Breaking Dawn - Part 1 trailer is scheduled to be released online.
