The holiday season is still several months away, but that doesn't mean marketing isn't underway for two strikingly different sequels: the latest entry in the Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn - Part 1, and the third entry in the stoner movie series, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.
Brand-new posters have been released for both movies, which hit theaters about two weeks apart in November. Suffice to say, though, there's not expected to be a whole lot of overlap between these two titles' target demographics.
A brand-new trailer for the first half of Breaking Dawn is slated to arrive next week - though, these new one-sheets should help tide over Twihards in the meantime. Harold & Kumar fans might be disappointed, though, since there's nothing here that quite matches this epic teaser poster.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1
Marketing material released for Breaking Dawn - Part 1 has focused on two aspects of the film: the long anticipated (or dreaded, depending on your perspective) wedding between Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen, and the luxurious honeymoon the two go on afterwards. The darker and truly horrific aspects of the film have only been hinted at so far (see: the end of the Breaking Dawn teaser trailer), but that could change with the upcoming theatrical preview.
Oscar-winner Bill Condon is holding the directorial reigns on the final two chapters in the Twilight series. Seeing how he's a director who has previously worked on films both stylishly theatrical (Dreamgirls) and horrifically gory (Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh), it will be interesting to see how he balances out the customary soapy romance of the Twilight stories with the impending disturbing and gruesome event that is Bella's pregnancy. Sure it will be Rated PG-13, but still...
Those uninterested in imagery of Bella and Edward clutching one another against the backdrop of a tropical setting at sunset - or the visual of Jacob (Taylor Lautner) who, for once, actually has a shirt on - probably won't find anything of interest in these Breaking Dawn posters. Then again, why would you even be reading this, if that was the case?

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas
Are you ready for the return of drugged-out buddies Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) - and, of course, the higher-than-thou Neil Patrick Harris?
If you watched either the Harold and Kumar 3D trailer - or either of the first two movies in this franchise - then you know exactly what you're getting into. The promise that the latest installment will add 3D gimmickry to the usual mix of outrageous humor and raunchy jokes is either something you're excited about, or quite put off by. You can probably guess which category most of us at Screen Rant fall into. ;-)
Bearing that in mind, the four new festivally-colored posters for Harold and Kumar's 3D Christmas adventure feature lewd visual gags and double entendre taglines a plenty. Then again, that's exactly the kind of juvenile humor these movies handle so well, right?
(P.S. Who here would be more willing to watch Breaking Dawn if NPH showed up in it? Just asking...)
