Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills released its fourth season in November of 2013 with a dramatic cast that shared a lot of history. Kim Richards, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump were back for their fourth straight season, while Yolanda and Brandi were brave enough to come back for a second. But there was new blood added to the mix: Joyce Giraud de Ohoven and Carlton Gebbia.
Similar to season 10 of RHOBH, season 4 revolved around the same drama time and time again. It was hard for the ladies to put these stories to rest because of all the bickering. But that's exactly why viewers tune in every week.
The Introduction Of Two Very Forgettable Housewives
Joyce Giraud de Ohoven and Carlton Gebbia were new to the group, but they didn't have what it took to be a lasting part of the franchise. Frankly, many fans found these women too boring. They didn't know how to play the part and didn't interfere with the strong dynamic the seasoned ladies already had. They tried to have their own issues with both Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards, but they were petty and unlikable.
Lisa Vanderpump's Dancing With The Stars Stunt
At the start of the season, all the women give a summary of what they've been up to since cameras stopped rolling. Lisa Vanderpump was one of the busiest because she was running her business empire while also performing on Dancing With the Stars.
Lisa loved her time on the show, but controversy began when Lisa fainted on TV while practicing with her partner. Instead of running to her side, the ladies immediately thought she was faking it. They all took their turns imitating Lisa's "perfect" faint and it outshone her time on the show.
Was Mauricio Umansky Cheating?
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky have been married since 1996, which is astounding in Hollywood. The adorable pair have three children together and a daughter from Kyle's previous marriage. As a unit, the couple has created their own an empire, but it almost came crashing down in season 4.
Rumors began swirling like wildfire that Mauricio was cheating on Kyle. Mauricio adamantly denied them, but this gossip devastated Kyle. Unfortunately, it looked like her best friends didn't know what to believe. Lisa Vanderpump kept cracking jokes about it and the women weren't sure how to approach the situation. It was a hard time in their relationship in front of the cameras.
Ken Vs. Yolanda
Yolanda and Ken came head to head while vacationing in Puerto Rico after Yolanda questioned Lisa's lies. Ken didn't like the fact that Yolanda was bringing up something like that while on vacation, so he spoke against her and called her "stupid." As a grown, level-headed woman, Yolanda took offense to his comments and the two were rocky ever since. It all came to a head at the finale party.
Yolanda confronted Ken once again about his vile words against her and it didn't end well. Ken reached for Yolanda's arm and she swatted him away saying "Don't touch me!" He called her stupid again as both of them were pulled away by friends.
The Start Of Gigi Hadid's Career
Yolanda's daughters, Gigi and Bella Hadid have to be the most popular kids in the Real Housewives franchise, and the wealthiest. Fans saw their rise to stardom in season 4, which was a memorable experience for Yolanda.
The cameras rolled as Gigi and Yolanda were at a modeling gig, with Yolanda praising her for landing a Guess campaign. Fast forward to 2020, there's no way Yolanda would have ever anticipated how successful her children would become.
Kyle's Shortlived Store
At the start of the fourth season, Kyle announced that she opened a boutique in Beverly Hills. She was flustered by owning a business as had no idea it was going to take up so much of her time and be so much work, though it was something she was passionate about.
As a new business owner, she became a member of the chamber of commerce in Beverly Hills, which is how Kyle met the two newest housewives. Alas, after five years in business, Kyle closed down her shops after parting ways with her business partner, Alene Too.
Kingsley
It was nice to see Kim Richards sober and thriving in season 4. She was no longer with her horrible boyfriend Ken and was becoming independent. Her children were gradually leaving the house but she kept herself busy by adopting a dog named Kingsley. Sadly, after having Kingsley for a year, he was still untrained and driving Kim crazy. She decided to send Kingsley to a doggy boarding school during the season but it didn't do much good.
In the news, Kingsley attacked Kim's personal assistant and even attacked Kyle's daughter Alexia. After the multiple attacks, Kim had to re-home Kingsley.
The "Dream Team"
In the episode "She Hears You, She Hears You Not," Yolanda and David hosted a dinner party at her house. As always, Yolanda was a perfect hostess and placed seating arrangements at the table to encourage conversation. However, some people's seating cards had hearts on them and others didn't...
When Kyle confronted Yolanda, she said it was an accident but those with hearts (Brandi, Lisa, and Carlton) were the "dream team." Those without the hearts weren't as close to Yolanda. This, of course, made things very awkward for those without hearts. But it was nothing like The Dinner Party From Hell in season 1!
Puerto Rico Was Anything But Relaxing
Everyone loves a Real Housewives vacation and in season 4 the women jet down to Puerto Rico. That's where newcomer Joyce is from and she wanted to show the women a good time on her island. However, tragedy struck when her father died right before the trip. The women decided to keep their vacation plans and go anyway, but respected Joyce's alone time with her family.
Things only got worse from there. The women couldn't stop talking about Mauricio's possible infidelities, which brought up a staged situation between Lisa and Brandi. Yolanda then got involved between the women because she too had issues with Lisa. After a long day in the sun and he-said, she-said arguments, the air was toxic.
Everyone Against Lisa
Lisa Vanderpump had a very difficult time in season 4. Everyone found out about her hidden agendas but when they brought them to her attention, she denied everything.
She was arguing with her on and off bestie Kyle over the cheating allegations; she locked horns with Brandi all season over the loyalty in their friendship and if she knew her ex-husband's mistress while it was happening; she also argued with Yolanda after Yolanda felt bamboozled by her. Yolanda wanted to know if they were real friends of "Hollywood friends," which did not go over well. What's even crazier is that Lisa had similar arguments about her selling stories and stirring the pot right up until she left the franchise.
