The Boys Parody Posters Imagine Supes As Snyder's Justice League

The Boys season 3 gets a new collection of character posters continuing the Zack Snyder's Justice League lampooning by imagining Vought's supes as the DC Comics team. Based on the graphic novels from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is a darkly humorous takedown of the superhero genre. Set in a world in which super-powered individuals exist and are mostly run by the conglomerate Vought International, a vigilante team known as The Boys fight to expose the heroes for the corrupt and shallow figures they really are and how their bosses work to cover up their misdeeds.

Hailing from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and producing duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, The Boys has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its dark humor, critiquing of the comic book world and the performances of its cast. With the show's success, Prime Video have expanded the franchise in a variety of ways, including the recently released animated spinoff The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the in-production college spinoff G-Men. With its satirical nature, The Boys has spoofed and parodied a number of major comic book properties from over the years and are now tapping into one of the most popular in recent years.

With just over a week remaining until the show's long-awaited return, Prime Video is cheekily building anticipation for The Boys season 3 by furthering its advertising for the in-universe Dawn of the Seven movie. An official website has been created for the faux film, which includes new character posters imagining Vought's supes as Zack Snyder's Justice League team. Check out the new posters below:

In the first two seasons of the show, many parallels have been drawn between The Seven in The Boys an Zack Snyder's DC Extended Universe movies thanks to their darker natures and depicting their super-powered beings as flawed individuals. The Boys season 2, however, took it to a higher level as it directly mocked Joss Whedon's Justice League reshoots, which became a point of infamy in Hollywood for his drastic change in tone and storytelling from Snyder's original vision and from which the Avengers filmmaker became the target of allegations of abusive behavior from stars Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot. The season 2 episode "We Gotta Go Now" saw Homelander express praise for Whedon's rewrites on the in-universe Dawn of the Seven movie, specifically Maeve's coming-out scene, which he felt "really sings."

With two years in its rearview since season 2, it appears Vought has finished work on Dawn of the Seven and that the Justice League parody could play a part in The Boys season 3's story, or at the very least mark a humorous new marketing angle for the show's return. On the heels of releasing a trailer for the in-universe parody film, Zack Snyder himself took to Twitter to embrace it poking fun at the Snyder Cut movement, congratulating P.J. Byrne's director character Adam Bourke on finally having his vision come to screens. Only time will tell how Dawn of the Seven factors into the new season when The Boys season 3 premieres on Prime Video on June 3.
