The first look at season 2 of Amazon's The Boys shows the team in a very familiar look. In the two weeks since Amazon Prime Video launched The Boys, it quickly found a strong fan base. This isn't just because the series is based on the well-known comic from Garth Ennis, though. It's mainly because The Boys offers a more mature, satirical, and incredibly cynical view of the world of superheroes and those who are negatively affected by their actions. In a world of entertainment that's saturated with superhero content, it was a refreshing change of pace.

The series just recently became one of Amazon's biggest series of all-time as well, which is great news for the streaming service. Season 2 of the Erik Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen produced series was already ordered before the series' premiere. The response so far to The Boys has made it clear why Amazon had confidence in the show ahead of time, and the early order meant production could begin rather quickly. That's not only good for Amazon but also for the show's fans, as the wait hopefully won't be too long before it returns.

With prior confirmation that season 2 had started filming, Erik Kripke offered up the first look at the upcoming season on Twitter recently. Kripke is not only the showrunner for The Boys, but he also directed the season one finale. In the first look image from the second season, Kripke is joined by - from left to right - Tomer Capon (Frenchie), Karen Fukuhara (The Female), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), and Laz Alonso (Mother's Milk) to show that not much has changed since season 1. Check out the photo below:

The remaining team members of The Boys are noticeably covered in blood, which has become a regular part of their looks. There's no telling whose blood they have splattered on them, but they don't seem like they care very much. The team killed quite a few individuals over the course of season 1, and this photo from season 2 illustrates that this tendency will continue. The notable cast member who is absent from this photo is Karl Urban, who stars as Billy Butcher. But, Urban not being in the photo is expected, as the season one finale clearly establishes why he wouldn't be with the team at the beginning of the new season.

Thanks to the popularity that The Boys now has, this photo may be the first of many to come during the course of its production. Kripke highlighted the core team here, but the series also has the superheroes to put on display. Homelander (Anthony Starr), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Queen Mauve (Dominique McElligott), The Deep (Chase Crawford), and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) are the remaining members of The Seven, so future publicity pushes for The Boys could also highlight them. Hopefully, Kripke has more set photos to share sometime soon.
