Prime Video debuts The Boys: Diabolical trailer revealing the first look at a new supe's violent powers in the upcoming animated series. The show serves as a spin-off to Amazon's mothership comic book series based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's graphic novels of the same name. The Boys is set in a world in which superheroes, known inaffectionately as supes, are real but are corrupt and shallow individuals abusing their powers for their own greedy means while a group of mostly non-powered vigilantes elect to unite to bring them to justice and their actions to light.

Karl Urban and Jack Quaid lead the cast of The Boys alongside Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher and Nathan Mitchell. The series has been a smash hit for Prime Video since making its premiere in summer 2019, receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences alike across its two seasons and drawing in consistently strong viewership numbers for the streamer. This success has led to two spin-offs being ordered for the universe, one of which viewers are now getting their first glimpse at.

The Boys: Diabolical trailer marks an exciting first look at the animated spin-off series, namely in its consistency of tone with the mainline acclaimed title. Though it may have the cartoonish slapstick of a children's show, it clearly isn't prepared to pull punches even around young characters as the new supe violently lasered the random soldiers to death in a brutal accidental fashion. With The Boys: Diabolical being described as an anthology set in the world of the mothership series, it would be interesting to see if the infant in the first trailer is actually the baby that Butcher used to escape a hospital by killing random Vought security guards.

If the trailer isn't enough to get audiences excited for The Boys: Diabolical, the ensemble roster of creatives bringing the animated spin-off to life is sure to peak general interest in the project. With executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg enlisting frequent collaborators and comedy favorites, including Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot and Ilana Glazer, Andy Samberg, Aisha Tyler and Justin Roiland, expectations of what's to come are high amongst fans of the main series. The wait is nearly over as The Boys: Diabolical premieres on Prime Video on March 4 followed by The Boys season 3 on June 3.
