Jack Quaid confirms The Boys season 3 will start filming soon, after posting a photo showing himself traveling to Canada for the show. Amazon Prime's subversive superhero show, based on the comic books of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has been a huge hit, becoming one of the most-streamed TV series of 2019 and 2020. In addition to Quaid as Hughie, it stars Karl Urban and Butcher, Antony Starr as Homelander and Erin Moriarty as Starlight, among a large ensemble cast.

The Boys is a smart, funny and violently over-the-top satire about a group of corrupt superheroes and the vigilantes who are working to take them down. Season 2 featured a number of twists, and ended with the titular group splitting up. Season 3 is expected to pick up later in the timeline and introduce a number of the classic comics storylines, after veering from the source material (to good effect) quite drastically in season 2. Season 3 will also introduce The Boys' Captain America parody, Solider Boy (Jensen Ackles), adding a new element to the mix in the form of another super-powered immortal. As a result, season 3 is hotly anticipated, with fans hoping it will be shot in time for a Fall 2021 release.

Quaid has confirmed there's a good chance of that happening, after sharing a photo of himself on a plane bound for Canada, where The Boys shoots, to film season 3. The actor didn't come out and say it explicitly, but his caption made it clear that his reason for travelling was to work on the show. He also later posted a story on Instagram confirming he's in quarantine in Canada, further proof of his reason for travel. You can see the post below:

The news is exciting for fans of the show, as it means filming should start in late January. Self-isolation protocols in Canada require people traveling to the country to quarantine for 14 days, meaning Quaid will be allowed out to start shooting two weeks from now, providing he hasn't contracted the coronavirus during his travel. That puts production on schedule to be finished by late Spring, so long as there are no delays due to COVID. That means season 3 should be ready to stream by the Fall, in line with expectations.

With the group broken up at the end of season 2, The Boys season 3 is expected to take the story in a new direction, and may even reveal more about the origins of some of the superhero characters, including Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) who was revealed to be the supe behind all of the mysterious head explosions in season 2. There's also the matter of Hughie signing up to work for Neuman, which is certain to put him on a collision course with Butcher down the line. All will be revealed when season 3 is released nearer the end of 2021.
