Jack Quaid, who stars as Hughie Campbell in Amazon’s The Boys, shares a picture of himself dressed as Starlight. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comics of the same name, The Boys’ pilot saw Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin, killed by a doped-up (on Compound-V) A-Train. As a result, he joined Billy Butcher and “The Boys,” a group wronged by superheroes or “Supes,” in their effort to take down Vought International and The Seven.

The show’s central romance is that of Hughie and Annie January aka Starlight (Erin Moriarty). The pair enjoyed a serendipitous park-bench introduction in season 1 before their relationship was complicated by Starlight’s status as a member of The Seven. Motivated by the loss of Robin, Hughie’s goaded manipulation of Starlight almost leads to the two becoming enemies; however, they ultimately worked together to expose Vought's experimentation and manufacturing of superheroes. It’s not a stretch to say that Hughie and Starlight are The Boys’ most righteous couple.

Quaid recently shared a picture to Instagram paying homage to his partner in crime. Wearing Starlight-esque garb (not provided by Vought), Quaid captioned the post, “got to be Starlight for a day during my quarantine! How’d I do, @erinelairmoriarty?” Check it out below.

The Boys' cast was required to go through a mandatory quarantine before season 3 began filming, which is set to start shortly. The upcoming season will feature Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy (a Captain America parody), the controversial “Herogasm” storyline from the comics, and a possible appearance by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. For Quaid, the season 2 finale saw Hughie defect from The Boys and joining Victoria Neuman’s Office of Supe Affairs. Unbeknownst to Hughie, Neuman is an incredibly powerful Supe responsible for many of the deaths in season 2. Although Homelander remains the primary threat, Hughie’s connection to Neuman will undoubtedly jeopardize the former’s relationships.

Hughie and Starlight’s bond might appear stronger but they're in very different places going into The Boys season 3. Much like Hughie’s motivations in season 1, his intent to “do the right thing” might skew his dynamic with other characters. Following Maeve’s blackmailing of Homelander, Starlight was vindicated and allowed to rejoin The Seven—a group that's put both her and Hughie in harm's way on numerous occasions. That said, Hughie is still determined to police Vought-related corruption in a way that doesn't involve murder and mayhem. Butcher and The Boys, on the other hand, subscribe to the more extreme approach of dealing with Supes. Pending drama and political commentary aside, The Boys should remain as satirical as Quaid dressed as his on-screen partner.
