The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke shares his scandalized reaction to the first Herogasm production meeting. Within its first two seasons, The Boys has firmly cemented itself as one of the raunchiest shows on television. As a superhero show that is as far away from the Marvel universe as one can get, The Boys has tackled exploding heads, a whale impaled by a speedboat, and a superhero with a very gifted penis named Love Sausage. Last fall's season 2 really seemed to push the envelope in several ways, but the currently in-production season 3 promises to go even further.

That is largely because it will adapt the comics storyline Herogasm. In the Boys comics, Herogasm is presented as a cataclysmic event that requires all the superheroes to fight for the good of humanity. In reality, it is a Vought-sponsored orgy, fueled by endless supplies of drugs and alcohol. There's no doubt that, in somehow bringing Herogasm to the small screen, The Boys just might go too far in pushing the limits of what a television show can depict. Kripke's first reaction to what the show has in store seems to confirm that.

Wednesday night, Kripke shared a picture of his reaction to The Boys' first Herogasm production meeting. He did not offer any specifics about what was discussed/shown, but his expression says it all. With a covered mouth and disbelieving eyes, it's clear Kripke somehow managed to be shocked by the early Herogasm discussions. And this is coming from the guy who worked on The Boys' first two seasons. You can see his reaction down below.

Certain elements of the comics' version of Herogasm won't be included on The Boys, such as Soldier Boy's controversial sex scene with Homelander (Antony Starr). The original superhero will be played by Jensen Ackles in season 3, but Kripke has already confirmed there will be no sexual moments between him and the sadistic leader of the Seven. However, in order to do justice to the Herogasm storyline, The Boys will definitely have to feature some shocking scenes of debauchery. Based on Kripke's early reaction, it looks like there won't be a lack of those.

The Boys season 3 began filming at the end of February, and a handful of set photos have made their way online since. Audiences already have a great deal of questions going into these new episodes, so there is a lot more to look forward to besides Herogasm. As of right now, season 3 doesn't have a release date, but it could premiere later this year or in early 2022. Don't expect to see much of Herogasm in any promotional materials though; it definitely won't be SFW.
