Gen V is an upcoming spinoff of Amazon Prime's The Boys, and the show will set up The Boys season 4 in 10 big ways. Gen V is the first live-action spin-off of the beloved R-rated superhero series, with it greatly expanding on the universe of The Boys in several key ways. While Gen V will focus on original characters and an original story, its shared universe with the original series means that it will use The Boys season 3 as a jumping-off point to set up season 4.

Gen V will feature the same gore, profanity, and R-rated madness of the original Amazon Prime series, but it will depart from The Boys in several big ways. Gen V will follow a group of college-age supes who are attending Godolkin University, an institution established by The Boys' villainous Vought corporation. At Godolkin, the various supes will compete in a series of games, with the show borrowing story elements from X-Men and The Hunger Games. Gen V is exciting in its own right, but what's even more exciting is how the series will set up The Boys season 4 when Gen V releases in Fall 2023.

10 Gen V Will Feature Cameos From Multiple The Boys Characters

One of the biggest ways that Gen V will set up The Boys season 4 is that it is set to feature cameos from multiple The Boys characters. Two supes, Soldier Boy and A-Train, have been confirmed to appear, as well as Vought employees Ashley Barrett and Adam Bourke. Gen V could prepare these characters for their respective season 4 stories, with the possibility of more cameos beyond these making the spin-off even more anticipated.

9 Gen V Will Continue Season 3's Soldier Boy Cliffhanger

Due to Gen V having a cameo from Soldier Boy, the series will have to pay off the character's season 3 cliffhanger. Season 3 ends with Soldier Boy being put back into his gassed capsule, with the destination of the comatose supe being unknown. However, since he will be appearing in Gen V, the show will either have to show where Soldier Boy is being held or explain how he got out.

8 A-Train's Season 3 Mission Can Be Continued In Gen V

Jessie T Usher as A-Train in The Boys

Another major The Boys season 3 storyline that can be continued in Gen V involves A-Train's secret mission. At the end of season 3, Ashley Barrett tasks A-Train with campaigning against Starlight's actions, launching a PR war against the former member of The Seven. A-Train's appearance in Gen V means that he could be speaking about Starlight at Godolkin University, continuing Vought's post-season 3 circuits. Starlight's season 4 story will undoubtedly revolve around the repercussions of her season 3 choices, and A-Train's mission in Gen V can set that up.

7 New Gen V Supes Could Appear In The Boys Season 4

The Boys' Jessie T. Usher As A-Train in Gen-V

Gen V is introducing all kinds of new supes to The Boys universe, and some of them could appear in The Boys season 4. Each season of The Boys introduces multiple one-off supes, so Gen V might act as a pool of characters that season 4 could pull from. Godolkin University is almost like a training ground for supes before they enter the real world, meaning that it's possible some of the spinoff's characters could pop up in season 4.

6 Gen V Could Introduce The Newest Member Of The Seven

The superhero group the Seven in The Boys

On top of just having crossover characters, Gen V could actually introduce the newest member of The Seven. Ironically, the Seven only has three members at the end of season 3, with the team consisting of Homelander, The Deep, and A-Train. With so many vacant spots, Vought could decide to bring a fresh face onto the team - possibly a Godolkin student. It could be that Godolkin University's supe games are meant to decide what hero will join the team, meaning that Gen V's main story could have huge consequences for The Boys season 4.

5 Godolkin University Will Expand Vought's Influence

Vought is already a hugely influential company, but Gen V will make the evil organization even bigger. Introducing the idea that Vought runs universities is a scary way to expand their influence, as it shows that the company has expanded into education and indoctrination. The existence of Godolkin University proves that Vought no longer has to raise up supes in secrets, which is a terrifying implication for what they'll be able to do in The Boys season 4.

4 Gen V Could Show How The Presidential Election Changes Before Season 4

Victoria Neuman in The Boys season 2

Another one of The Boys season 3's biggest cliffhangers involves the presidential election, with it being revealed that supe-in-disguise Victoria Neuman is now the running mate of presidential candidate Robert Singer. Although Neuman is purportedly anti-supe, she is actually one herself, with her being the main antagonist of The Boys season 4. Season 3 ends right as Neuman's campaign is announced, meaning that Gen V can show how the election is developing, preparing Neuman's vice presidency for The Boys season 4.

3 Gen V Could Chronicle The Rise Of Homelander's Political Movement

Another political storyline that Gen V can continue is the rise of Homelander's political movement. Season 3's terrifying ending shows that Homelander has cultivated a following of far-right fascists, and the supe is perfectly willing to lead them. Homelander's influence has most likely crept into Godolkin University, with The Boys unlikely to miss the opportunity to commentate about far-right groups on college campuses. Homelander may not appear in Gen V himself, but the spinoff will probably see his power grow immensely.

2 New Powers Will Be Introduced To The Boys Universe In The Spin-Off

The Boys already has some pretty wacky powers, but Gen V promises to introduce some even zanier ones to the franchise. It has already been confirmed that characters in Gen V will be able to manipulate blood and gender shift, both things that haven't really been seen in The Boys before. However, these probably won't be Gen V's only new powers, with Godolkin University being populated by loads of students with enhanced abilities.

1 Gen V Will Make Expectations For The Boys Season 4's Gore Even Higher

Each season of The Boys has tried to one-up itself when it comes to gore, and Gen V will attempt to do the same thing. Gen V's teaser trailer has shown how bloody the show is going to get, with it possibly even outdoing season 3. Because of Gen V's existence, expectations for The Boys season 4's gore will be even higher. Due to this, The Boys season 4 will have even bigger shoes to fill after the release of the Gen V spinoff.
