Ryan's fate on The Boys looks darker than ever following a recent casting announcement. The show has confirmed that Cameron Crovetti, who plays Homelander's son Ryan on The Boys, will become a series regular in season 4. This means that the size of his role is likely to increase greatly, with the importance of Ryan as a character being elevated from previous seasons, in which he would only appear sporadically.

At only 14 years old, Crovetti is already an accomplished actor, having played notable roles in films and series such as The Gray Man, Big Little Lies, and Dirty John. In addition to season 4 of The Boys, Crovetti will also be seen starring alongside Naomi Watts in a remake of the Austrian horror film Goodnight Mommy. However, his work as Ryan, the son of Homelander and Billy Butcher's wife Becca, on The Boys is his most recognizable role to date.

Because Ryan was raised by Becca and took a quick liking to Butcher, it seemed as though he had a chance to be a hero - or at least a good person - in spite of his Homelander heritage and powers. In season 3 of The Boys, he is shown bonding with Butcher and making a touching video tribute to his mother. However, his behavior changes drastically after he feels that Butcher has abandoned him, which sends Ryan straight into the open, welcoming arms of his father. Homelander promises to love and accept him unconditionally. To a degree, it makes sense that Ryan would welcome this embrace. However, by the end of the season, Ryan seems supportive of Homelander's murderous actions, suggesting that he has already chosen a dark path that will make him a threat to the Boys - and possibly even the world.

Will Ryan Become A Villain In The Boys Season 4?

The season 3 finale of The Boys concludes with Ryan smiling after Homelander eviscerates a protester, which does not seem like a good sign for the fate of the character. If he continues to be willingly influenced by his father's dastardly conduct, then it is very possible that Ryan will become a major villain in The Boys season 4. As he gets older under the tutelage of Homelander, Ryan has the potential to become just as dangerous as his father. He also represents a moral quagmire for the Boys, as he is still very young and will always be Becca's son as well as Homelander's.

While it has always been a possibility that Ryan would become a villain like his father, season 3's ending and Cameron Crovetti's casting as a series regular for season 4 of The Boys have made this option much more likely than before. Though being a series regular does not mean that Ryan will appear in every episode, it does guarantee that he will play a crucial part in the events to come. In a show known for its shocking and unexpected choices, there is still a chance that The Boys could go a different direction with Ryan. However, at the moment, his future in season 4 is looking very grim.
