New images from The Boys offical Twitter teases the upcoming release of the season 3 teaser trailer. The hit Amazon series will be returning this summer with eight new episodes after The Boys season 2's finale nearly 18 months ago. After several teases of what to expect in upcoming episodes, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke promised last month that the first official season 3 trailer would be "out in a few weeks."

With The Boys building a devoted fanbase after two seasons and ongoing delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the anticipation of the superhero show's return is now stronger than ever. During the waiting period for season 3, Amazon premiered the animated anthology spinoff The Boys Presents: Diabolical, which even featured a canonical tie-in to Homelander's (Antony Starr) backstory to the live-action series. Even with the new related content, however, there is still plenty of action to look forward to in season 3 that has fans on tenterhooks. While the titular Boys will once again face off against the infamous Seven, The Boys season 3 is also adding a major character to its line-up in Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy.

Now, The Boys TV official Twitter account has posted a series of images that tease the impending arrival of The Boys season 3 trailer. The photos feature cast members Laz Alonzo (Mother's Milk), Erin Moriarty (Annie January/Starlight), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko/The Female), and Jack Quaid (Hughie) in a different behind-the-scenes setting, with deadpan stares and wearing under-eye patches. Playing on the eye-centric nature of the images, the playful caption simply reads, "Keeping an eye out for the S3 teaser." View the post below:

Unfortunately, no specific release date was given for the The Boys season 3 trailer in the tweet, but it's likely that the new teaser isn't far away. Meanwhile, the humor in the post was on point, as it displayed both members of the Boys (Alonzo, Fukuhara, and Quaid) and the shows the new leader of the Seven (Moriarty, also sporting hair curlers) in the typical straight-faced Boys style. While not much is known about specific plot details, with the confirmation that The Boys season 3 will adapt the famous "Herogasm" storyline from the original comics and the addition of Ackles' as Soldier Boy, it is already shaping up to be, as star Quaid has described it, "more messed up" than The Boys' first two installments.

What has largely attracted viewers to The Boys is how much it stands out when compared to the traditional superhero stories seen in Marvel and DC adaptations. The series' social commentary and constant trope subversion, along with a dark and twisted sense of humor, has made it a slow-burn hit. Whatever will be featured in the The Boys season 3 impending teaser trailer, it's sure to continue the irreverent and self-referential approach taken by season 1 and 2, and amp up the action in ways audiences have never seen before.
