Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Boys season 3 episode 5.

The creator of The Boys has teased that Maeve is in grave danger in the next episode of season 3. The Prime Video show, which is based on the DC/Wildstorm comic series of the same name, is an irreverent take on the superhero mythos that follows a group of vigilantes bent on taking down The Seven, a parody of the Justice League. One of the key figures in The Seven is Queen Maeve, played by Dominique McElligott. She has a close resemblance to Wonder Woman, but she is burnt out by the Supe lifestyle and has become disillusioned with what The Seven are doing.

The most recent episode of The Boys was episode 5, "The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies," aired on June 17. That episode included a major moment for Queen Maeve when she had a drunken sexual encounter with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), the leader of The Boys. Afterward, she is ambushed by Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) in retaliation for an argument with The Seven leader Homelander (Antony Starr). The episode ended without revealing what exactly happened to Maeve, which could be grave, especially considering the fact that she has turned against The Seven and has been surreptitiously supplying Butcher with Temp-V.

The Boys creator and showrunner Eric Kripke sat down with TVLine to discuss the latest episode. While he doesn't disclose any details about her fate, he does tease that things aren't looking good for her coming up. He says that she is certainly "in a tight spot." Read his full quote below:

You should be very concerned about [Maeve’s] wellbeing, but tune in to see. She’s in a tight spot.

The Boys Homelander Queen Maeve

One thing that can be gleaned from this quote is the likelihood that, at the beginning of episode 6 at least, Maeve is still alive. The episode, which will air on June 24, 2022, is titled "Herogasm," which doesn't exactly give insight into her fate beyond that. It is based on the notorious Boys comic of the same name, however, so readers who aren't caught up may desire to check out that title ahead of time to see if any hints might be dropped.

One thing that is for certain is that The Boys season 3 has reached a major turning point. It seems that Maeve's deception has finally reached the endpoint, which may spell out a major shakeup for The Seven. With Homelander also discovering her alliance with Butcher after smelling him on her, he will likely take out his anger on her. The pair were once in a relationship together, so this betrayal has layers for the psychotic leader of The Seven. Whether she completely defects from Vought and joins The Boys remains unknown, but for now, she is in grave danger as Homelander will most likely be out for revenge.
