The Boys hypes Herogasm week with an apt new emoji that it couldn’t get Twitter to approve. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic, The Boys was created by showrunner Eric Kripke alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The series follows a group of dysfunctional, non-powered vigilantes who team up to bring justice to abusive superheroes, a.k.a. “Supes,” and the conglomerate that enables them, Vought International. Throughout season 1 and 2, The Boys has put its TV-MA to use, with season 3 upping the ante in almost every perceivable way — from a bizarre opening Termite scene to the demise of the Deep’s friend Timothy. That said, The Boys season 3, episode 6 is poised to be the most outrageous yet.

Ennis and Robertson’s original Herogasm event was a giant, secret and depraved party for superheroes. Following season 2, Kripke announced that The Boys season 3 would feature a live-action version of the Herogasm story, and that it would be as wild as the one in the orignal The Boys comics. This sentiment has been echoed by the show’s cast and crew, who have already talked about the strange experience they had filming Herogasm. Since season 3’s episode titles were revealed in advance, audiences knew to expect “Herogasm” in episode 6, which drops on Prime Video later this week.

The Boys’ official Twitter account recently shared a post in honor of the "unholy week" that is Herogasm's release. Replying to the original post, The Boys shared what is essentially a super eggplant emoji, which is now the account’s profile picture. According to the post, Twitter chose not to approve this new version of the emoji. Following The Boys' post, the #Herogasm hashtag is now trending on Twitter, as audiences continue to anticipate what should be a memorable, hilarious, jarring, and potentially heartbreaking event. Strangely, The Boys season 3 has made no mention of the time and place of a Herogasm event in episode 1 to 5. Furthermore, the most recent episode did nothing to set this notorious sequence up, with “The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies” being largely concerned with V-24, Soldier Boy, and Homelander’s kidnapping of Maeve — which may or may not play into "Herogasm." Given the dire state of things, it doesn’t seem like anyone will be in the mood for a party in The Boys season 3, episode 6.

At this point, Soldier Boy hasn’t even made himself known to Vought or Homelander. While The Boys has said it doesn’t plan to adapt that homoerotic Soldier Boy and Homelander moment from the comics, the former is still expected to be involved in Herogasm. It will be interesting to see how the series manages to incorporate the wild and ridiculous bonanza in a way that fits with The Boys' ongoing storyline, given Solider Boy's place in the show at the moment. All will be revealed when “Herogasm” premieres on Prime Video this Friday.
