The Boys season 3 secretly set up the upcoming college spinoff show Gen V thanks to a quick Easter egg. The third season of Prime Video's hit superhero satire once again introduced new elements to Vought's universe. The debut of Soldier Boy was the most notable, but the development of Temp-V also gave Billy Butcher and Hughie Campbell powers and changed how they operated. Viewers even got to see an American Idol parody in American Hero, a competition show to find The Seven's next members. These additions take on slightly new meaning when the development of The Boys spinoff show, Gen V, is taken into consideration.

Prime Video already expanded The Boys franchise with The Boys Presents: Diabolical, but the animated anthology series is very different from Gen V. The upcoming live-action series centers around a group of Supes training under Vought's tutelage at college. Ever since the announcement of Gen V, viewers have been on the lookout for any way The Boys could set it up. This included linking mentions of A-Train's former coach to the spinoff. The vagueness of that tease meant not every viewer of The Boys was convinced that season 3 set up the spinoff in any fashion.

There was a secret bit of Gen V setup in The Boys season 3 that most missed, though. During The Boys season 3, episode 2, Hughie visits Red River Institute, a group home for powered children who do not have parents or caretakers. He gets a glimpse of the Red River database during his time there after lying about him and Starlight wanting to adopt a Supe child. As the list of children up for adoption is scrolled through, there is a profile for Marie M., played by Jaz Sinclair. Red River is where Victoria Neuman grew up too. Sinclair was previously announced as a cast member for Gen V. As a result, The Boys season 3 set up the college spinoff by teasing her mystery Supe named Marie.

Will The Boys Cast Members Crossover With Gen V?

Marie Moreau Easter egg in The Boys

One of the big questions surrounding Gen V is if The Boys cast members will appear in a crossover. The college spinoff so far has only announced roles for new cast members and characters. Jaz Sinclair's Marie is set to be one of the leads, while Patrick Schwarzenegger's Golden Boy will also play a prominent role in Gen V. Other cast members include Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann. But there has so far not been any announcement that any of The Boys' Supes or other characters will appear.

It has been confirmed that The Boys' spinoff Gen V will connect to the events of season 3 and even tease some storylines for season 4, but the chances of Homelander, Victoria Neuman, or someone else appearing has yet to be revealed. There are certainly some opportunities for The Boys and Gen V to crossover and really connect the two shows together. If there are any familiar faces in the college spinoff, the most likely candidates could be characters affiliated with Vought - like new CEO Ashley - or even the new take on Black Noir. With The Boys season 3's setup for Gen V through Jaz Sinclair's photo cameo, viewers should at least be confident that other connections will be made.
