Karl Urban is heading to Canada from New Zealand to start production on The Boys season 3. The Boys premiered in 2019 on Amazon Prime and is based on the comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show's first season received critical acclaim, but it really took off in its second season when it became Amazon Prime's most watched show.

The show was renewed for a third season in 2020 and Urban is set to return as Billy Butcher. He is joined by Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford, and Antony Starr.  Creator Eric Kripke has already begun teasing what's in store for the third season, including one of the most controversial storylines in the comic book. The sixth episode of season three will adapt the "Herogasm" plot line and while details are scarce as to what else will happen in the season, it seems anything is on the table.

Now, Urban has revealed that he is set to begin filming for The Boys season three soon. The actor posted a picture to his Instagram, lamenting the fact that he has to leave COVID-free New Zealand. Urban goes on to say that the only reason he would leave the safety of New Zealand is for The Boys. He is on his way to Canada where he will likely have to quarantine before production starts. Urban also took time to emphasize the safety protocols in place for the upcoming production, including all of the typical precautions put in place.

After The Boys season 2, many have wondered where the show can go from here. Stormfront has been dispatched and, after Billy Butcher's wife's tragic death, it seems one of our main characters may start the season disillusioned towards his goal of bringing down the supes. The big question is how he is brought back into the fold and how the titular Boys get back together. Hughie is also off on his own, working with Congresswoman Neuman, unaware that she is behind many of the murders in the second season.

While Congresswoman Neuman is lurking in the shadows, though, The Boys's biggest threat is still Homelander. Season 2 saw Homelander destroy just about everything he held dear, with his son taken away from him and Stillwell's ghost still haunting Vought's most powerful supe. Homelander also finds himself stuck in a new power dynamic with the new CEO of Vought, Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito). The Boys season 3 will likely up the ante more than ever before and, with nothing to lose, Homelander will be back with a vengeance and it will be up to Billy Butcher and the rest of the gang to once again try to stop him.
