In line with the tone of Amazon Prime’s hit series, The Boys cast offers up an appropriately rude gesture to celebrate a wrap filming season 3. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series of the same name, The Boys was created by showrunner Eric Kripke. The series explores a world where superheroes have embraced celebrity status and, more often than not, are the equivalent of corrupt politicians. Seasons 1 and 2 follow Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), and a group wronged by “Supes,” who attempt to expose Vought International, “The Seven,” and Compound V.

The Boys has been praised for its “real-world” comic book concept, dark humor, and social commentary facilitated by its boundary-pushing violence. In addition to starring Quaid and Urban, its cast includes Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Claudia Doumit, and Colby Minifie. The new season will feature newcomers Katia Winter as Little Nina, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, and is set to include the NSFW Herogasm storyline from the comics. Principal cast members Quaid, Urban, and Ackles recently took to social media confirming a wrap on the Toronto production of season 3.

Now, Moriarty shared a picture of herself, Quaid, and Fukuhara on Instagram enjoying some champagne (presumably) to commemorate a filming wrap on The Boys season 3. On top of raising a glass, the trio flashed a potentially offensive yet universally familiar gesture for fans of perhaps the most outrageous shows on streaming. Check it out below:

Since February, the cast of The Boys had been filming in Toronto, Ontario, where the show has been primarily shot throughout its three seasons. The Boys season 3 will likely premiere in late 2021 or early 2022 and will look to top the precedent set by season 2, which received six Emmy nominations. The success of The Boys resulted in Amazon fast-tracking a spinoff series about America’s only college for superheroes run by Vought. Craig Rosenberg will serve as showrunner on that show with Kripke producing. While The Boys won’t serve as a back door pilot, the flagship series will include subtle references and/or propaganda for the spinoff.

Middle fingers were flashed a lot in The Boys’ second season, probably too many to count. It also had a shocking ending, with the death of Becca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten) and the relocation of her and Homelander’s (Starr) super-powered son. Thankfully, Queen Maeve (McElligott) was able to blackmail Homelander into allowing Starlight back into The Seven (Moriarty) and leave the real heroes alone. Unfortunately, just when everything seemed okay, it was revealed that congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Doumit) is secretly a homicidal Supe with the power to explode heads. It’s unclear what exactly Neuman’s motives are, but Hughie will surely find out now that he’s working with her and the Bureau of Superhuman Affairs in season 3.
