Aya Cash confirms what many fans might've already suspected: Stormfront will not appear in The Boys season 3. After reaching new heights with season 2, Prime Video's The Boys will return for an even bigger season 3 this June. The superhero satire will once again adopt a weekly release plan, which allowed the show to maintain an impressive amount of buzz back in the fall of 2020. Where The Boys last left off, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his titular band of vigilantes had scored a win against Homelander (Antony Starr), but it left Butcher heavily demoralized because of the death of his wife Becca (Shantel VanSanten). Now the group has split up, but while Homelander is definitely down, he is far from defeated.

One of the biggest questions on fans' minds regarding The Boys season 3 has been whether scene-stealing villain Stormfront (Cash) will return. With her racist behavior and Nazi-related backstory, Stormfront was even more horrific than Homelander. The Boys season 2 finale saw her heavily injured, losing several limbs and sustaining major burns thanks to Homelander's son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti). Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed Stormfront actually did survive, and fans have wondered if she will turn up in The Boys again ever since.

Now the matter has been settled by Cash herself. In a recent interview with Metacritic for her new Hulu series The Girl From Plainville, Cash was asked outright if there were any updates regarding a potential return for Stormfront in The Boys season 3. Her answer made things very clear: "The Boys comes out on June 3 and I'll be watching with the rest of you guys, unfortunately. That's my update."

Stormfront covered in blood in The Boys

Now, as anyone who has been watching Andrew Garfield over the past year knows, actors can lie about their projects to preserve spoilers. However, considering Stormfront's current situation, it does make more sense for her to sit out season 3. The Boys made the most of her presence in season 2, but sometimes the best thing a show can do for a really good villain is let them go when their story is done. Stormfront shook up the series, and the effects of her actions will be felt for a long time after.

In fact, there have already been some hints that Stormfront will have an offscreen presence going forward. In a video late last year setting up storylines for The Boys season 3, it was revealed that Stormfront still has a great deal of followers in the world who are eagerly trying to work out what happened to her. Vought will likely work to keep the truth under wraps, which could actually just lead to more fervor from her fans. Therefore, even if Cash isn't physically a part of The Boys season 3, the odds are good that her character will cast a shadow over everything that's happening. Now that is a mark of a really great terrible character.
