The Boys season two episode titles reveal stronger ties to the show's original comic book roots. The Amazon Prime original hit series explores a world where superheroes are revered but also secretly villainous. The first season ended on a massive cliffhanger, which had fans of the original comics and the streaming show adaptation eagerly awaiting season two.

Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) was just an average guy with a normal girlfriend until a superhero ruined his life. The main group of superheroes in The Boys are called "The Seven." The Seven are virtually untouchable in terms of popularity, but Hughie starts to question them when one of The Seven accidentally kills his girlfriend in a gruesome fashion. Hughie's quickly recruited into a vigilante group called "The Boys," by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban.) Butcher also lost his wife in a highly suspicious way (thanks to The Seven), and The Boys' primary motivation is to bring the celebrated heroes down and show the world who they truly are. Meanwhile, Hughie also crosses paths with Annie January, who was recently recruited as the newest member of The Seven as the super-heroine Starlight. Starlight finds herself questioning whether a boost in her career is worth throwing out her conscience.

Comicbook.com was first to reveal the season two episode titles had been posted on The Writers Guild of America websiteThe titles are taken straight from the comic books that inspired the series. They include, "Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker," "Nothing Like It In The World," "Over The Hill With The Swords of a Thousand Men," "Proper Preparation and Planning," "The Big Ride," "The Bloody Doors Off," "We Gotta Go Now," and, "What I Know." These titles were taken from the comic book arcs that occurred closer to the end of the series, as well as several backstories for some of the major characters.

The episode list doesn't specify the actual episode order, but the titles are intriguing. Thankfully the premiere of season two of The Boys wasn't impacted by the coronavirus, as filming for season two was already underway last year, and a trailer for the second season has already dropped. Karl Urban himself teased that the second season would premiere sometime in mid-2020, which is undoubtedly a welcome treat for fans still in coronavirus quarantine. Although the episode titles are taken straight from the comic books themselves, that may or may not mean the show will follow precisely along the same story arcs. After all, the show's success will more than likely lead to multiple seasons, and may need to draw out the comic book story arcs as long as possible.

What makes The Boys so utterly binge-worthy is the show's willingness to present so-called superheroes that aren't afraid to play dirty. It's an excellent original take on the superhero genre, and surprisingly fun to root for The Seven to be taken down. Despite the show being about superheroes, the characters are relatable, and the show tackled real-world issues like sexual harassment in the workplace. All in all, season two of The Boys will be worth the wait.
