Little Nina’s casting hints at an interesting comic storyline for The Boys season 3. Dexter and Sleepy Hollow alum Katia Winter has been cast as Little Nina in season 3 of the Amazon Prime series. The end of The Boys season 2 saw the end of Stormfront’s diabolical plans for building a Nazi supe army and revealed Congresswoman Victoria Neuman was the one responsible for the plethora of exploding heads. There are so many story avenues season 3 could take and the addition of Little Nina could see the arrival of a gruesome and violent storyline ripped straight from the comics.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Boys comics.

In The Boys comics, Little Nina is so named because she’s short. She’s also a pretty powerful Russian crime boss working with Vought, the corporation churning out Compound V, the substance which gives the supes their powers. Little Nina, with her own Compound V formula, created a supe army who caused plenty of mayhem before she blew them up remotely. This act upgraded her status as Russia’s public savior, making her more powerful than she already was. Little Nina also had a penchant for vibrators, which Billy Butcher ultimately used against her by planting a bomb inside the sex toy, blowing her and her plane up after she used it on the flight.

There are certainly a lot of violent deaths in the comics (and on the show), but Little Nina’s is perhaps one of the most deadly and surprising. With her comics backstory in mind, The Boys season 3 could see Nina working alongside Vought like she does in the comics. After all, the corporation had to distance itself from Stormfront following people’s awareness of her Nazi history and plans. With Homelander back as the face of the Seven and Payback, another elite supe team led by Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, coming into play, Vought can use them as a cover while they work alongside Nina to stage a coup in Russia.

It’s also possible Little Nina will work alongside Congresswoman Neuman. After all, the pair both seem to enjoy blowing people up so a potential alliance makes sense. It’s unclear what Neuman’s big picture plans might be, but she’ll be playing a much larger role in season 3 and will probably be interacting with others to develop whatever it is she’s plotting. Employing Nina to create a Compound V formula and having the Russian supes cause chaos before they’re exploded could factor into Neuman’s campaign against Vought and supes in general. Conversely, Nina’s introduction could lead to her working with Billy and the rest of the Boys. It’s not a stretch of the imagination, especially if the Boys get wind of what’s going on and attempt to reach Nina first.

The Boys TV show hasn’t copied every little detail from its source material. Rather, the Amazon series has only been adapting certain aspects of the story, often changing the plot or backstory of a character to better suit the narrative of the show. It’s possible the same will be done with Nina, though The Boys will likely include her grisly death (because the series has never shied away from violently bloody character demises). How she’ll factor into season 3 and how big of a role she may or not play remains to be seen. Either way, she will surely wreak some havoc during her run.
