Spoilers for The Boys comic book and television series below

In his very last appearance in The Boys comics, Homelander's last words proved to be a perfect sendoff for the out-of-control Supe. In The Boys #65, the villainous hero discovers Black Noir is actually a secret clone of him, sent to destroy him. After discovering the shocking twist, Homelander's final stand features an expletive-laced rant where he tells his fellow member of The Seven that he ruined his life, which turns out to be a fitting death for the character.

Homelander's death in The Boys comic is one of the most shocking moments of the entire series. Throughout the story, Homelander is presented as a monster whose selfishness and insecurities, combined with being the most powerful Supe on the planet, made him extremely reckless. As a result, The Seven's leader committed numerous atrocities and crimes for personal gain, killing innocent people and Supes without hesitation. However, he truly lost control upon believing he was responsible for acts even too far for him, but it turned out Black Noir, a clone of Homelander, was responsible. However, it was too late for the patriotic hero, as he had already killed the President of the United States and had his failsafe unleashed on him.

In The Boys #65 by Garth Ennis, Russ Braun, John McCrea, Keith Burns, Simon Bowland, Tony Avina, and Darick Robertson, Billy Butcher finds Homelander in the White House, as he murdered the President of the United States after the public was told about his worst actions. With nothing to lose, Homelander is confronted by Black Noir, who reveals himself as his clone. On top of that, Black Noir, not Homelander, committed his worst actions and blamed them on the Supe, who he was created from. With his last words before dying to Black Noir, Homelander lets out an expletive-filled rant telling his clone he ruined his life.

Homelander Comics Last Words - The Boys Comic Book

In the end, Homelander didn't take responsibility for his actions, as his last words before dying at the hands of Black Noir blamed his clone for his worst actions. While Black Noir did pull off the worst of Homelander's crimes, it doesn't absolve the Supe from being a total monster, as even without Black Noir's interference and framing, he still is a very bad guy. There was no redemption for Homelander, even without the revelation.

Homelander's last words show that he would never become an actual hero, as he was too selfish and unable ever to take responsibility for what he had done. The expletive-laced rant at Black Noir before his death further proved that Homelander never saw himself as a problem in The Boys, as like he had throughout the series, he blamed others for his worst qualities and actions - when most of the time, it wasn't deserved.
