The third season of The Boys is making waves, and The Deep is certainly doing his part to pull audiences in. His unique marine powers enable him to give a fish's eye view, as he is able to communicate with sea life. This makes it just as fun for fans to keep up with his aquatic relationships as it is to follow his human interactions.

Unfortunately, when it comes to protecting his fishy friends, The Deep does not have the greatest track record. In fact, far too many of his oceanic alliances end in brutal deaths that are equal parts heartbreaking and hilarious–If anything, the supe is an environmental hazard. Sentient sea creatures like Lucy the Whale and Timothy the Octopus are testaments to the dangers of The Deep's friendship.

The Goldfish

In season 2, A-Train finds that he owes The Deep an apology. As a sign of respect for his powers, the runner gifts the swimmer with a goldfish. For The Deep, who can communicate with fish, this is more than just a pet. This is a friend.

The goldfish does not die a violent onscreen death after his debut. So, if it makes audiences feel better, they can assume that he went on to live happily with his friend new pal. Plus, The Deep has mentioned that he used to hear the goldfish at the pet store begging for him to save them, so getting to save this little guy must have felt nice.

The School Of Halibut

Just like his DCEU counterpart, Aquaman, The Deep can speak to fish and make them do what he wants. In season 1, he gets a school of halibut to help him recover the harrowing video of Homelander and Maeve refusing to help the victims on Flight 37.

The school of fish does a great job at helping their human friend out, and they even give the good guys some leverage against Homelander. They also get to keep on living, and then part ways with The Deep, which is more than most of his marine companions can say.

The Mako Sharks

In season two, The Deep commands a group of sharks to attack the Boys. The sharks succeed in sinking their main vessel and continue to pursue them in the emergency boat. The boys shoot at them, but the set of fins continues to pursue them.

When Lucy the Whale comes swimming in after the sharks, she takes the attention off of them. This is probably for the better, as it seems that most of the sharks get away scot-free. Of course, some are likely hurt by the spray of bullets, but their fate is nowhere near as sorrowful as other sea creatures. They also don't cause too much life-threatening damage to the Boys.

The Dolphin

The Deep drives with a dolphin in the back in in The Boys

The Deep is one of the funniest characters on The Boys, but most of the time, the audience is laughing at him and not with him. For example, in season one, he argues with a dolphin that he saved while on a run from the cops. He stops the car short, sending the dolphin flying through the windshield in slow motion while The Spice Girls play. The dolphin lands on the road and is then hit by a truck.

Awful, yes, but also pretty hilariously done. At this point, the dolphin has developed its own personality, so watching him die is certainly not easy. At least he goes out in enough style to cushion some of the blow for viewers. It is one of the first sea creature deaths that the audience sees, though, so it is definitely shocking.

Lucy The Whale

Butcher and the whale in The Boys

The Deep's character arc comes with a series of ups and downs, making him one of the best characters in The Boys. The iconic scene with Lucy the Whale really highlights this. He commandeers Lucy to join the fight while sharks attack the Boys on their boat. Unfortunately for Lucy, when the Deep parks her near the shore, the Boys send the boat nose-first right through her.

The Deep feels like he's on top of the world when riding Lucy. He is finally starting to feel like a hero again, only to be met with another dead sea mammal pal and a plentitude of whale carnage. To be fair, some of the Boys are also pretty traumatized by this event. Hughie refuses to move from inside the whale's carcass for a bit too long. Whales are majestic creatures and no one wants to see innocent Lucy meet such a gory end, but at least it means that the Boys could take the next step on their mission.

The Lobster

The Deep meets a lobster while grocery shopping

The Deep visits a grocery store and makes fast friends with a lobster at the top of the tank in one of the best episodes of The Boys. He promises to get him out of there, so he calls the worker over to tell him which one he wants to take home. Unfortunately, the worker assumes that The Deep wants the lobster dead, so he chops into his new crustacean companion.

This lobster was so close to salvation before he got the ax so abruptly. The Deep is horrified, and nothing good comes from the poor little guy's death. The Deep had pretty altruistic intentions with this one, and it was a lot more lawful than stealing a dolphin. Somehow, this makes the sudden death hurt even more.

Timothy The Octopus

The third episode of the newest season brought one of the most nauseating sea creature deaths yet. The Deep's pet octopus, Timothy, who he has a strange sexual encounter with earlier in the episode, ends up on his plate as a part of Homelander's mind games. Homelander demands that the Deep eats Timothy alive.

The build-up to The Deep eating his dear friend is an appalling spectacle that audiences just can't look away from. The most miserable part of the ordeal has to be the way The Deep tells the others that Timothy is begging him not to eat him because he has a family. Unfortunately, The Deep knows what he needs to do. Despite Timothy inking and attempting to pry himself away from his friend's mouth with his tentacles, The Deep swallows the octopus whole. Timothy is now swimming with the fishes--Specifically, the other ones that the Deep has inadvertently killed.
