Why The Boys cut their best Batman parody. The Amazon series quickly dismisses any ideas about the Seven, an elite and corporate-backed team with superhuman abilities, being anything but twisted versions of superheroes. Audiences may have taken notice that several of the Seven’s members, including The Deep and Homelander, are modeled after known comic book superheroes like Aquaman, Superman, and Captain America. Naturally, they’re warped, and there may be a reason why Tek-Knight, the satirical version of The Boys’ Batman and Iron Man, has not been present in season 1 or season 2.

In the comics, Tek-Knight, a member of Payback, the superhero team led by Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy, wasn’t injected with Compound V. Rather, he’s a super rich man with a lot of resources and technology at his disposal. He’d always wanted to be a supe, so he made it happen. This is where the Batman/Iron Man similarities come into play. He’s got a butler, a cave, he’s a playboy, and uses his money to build himself a suit of armor. However, Tek-Knight is far more perturbed than his DC and Marvel counterparts (because this is The Boys, after all). He’s also got a sex addiction and he’s aroused by every person, animal, and inanimate object he crosses paths with. What’s more, Tek-Knight’s death is also rather disturbing and graphic, with the character saving the planet from an asteroid by having sex with it and subsequently causing it to explode.

The Boys has only ever referenced Tek-Knight in its first two seasons and the fact that Soldier Boy is being introduced in season 3 might leave fans wondering why the same can’t be done with Tek-Knight, arguably one of the most controversial supes. It’s possible the series is avoiding the introduction of Tek-Knight because his death is actually far too graphic, even for a show as explicit as The Boys. The character’s death scene in the comics — revealed to be a hallucination, with Tek-Knight actually dying from a wheelbarrow full of bricks — is unnecessary, gross, and is probably not allowed to be shown onscreen.

Tek Knight in The Boys

For instance, while Homelander was shown masturbating over the side of a building in season 2, The Boys didn’t actually show him climaxing over the city. There are some things the show avoids visualizing and Tek-Knight having sex with an asteroid is more than a bit too much. Bringing Tek-Knight into the world of The Boys poses another issue. The character’s sex addiction is excessive and would have to be removed altogether for obvious reasons. This behavior is egregious and it’s unlikely the show would be able to include Tek-Knight sexually assaulting people, animals, and objects at every turn.

The Boys is still dealing with The Deep’s assault on Starlight and adding Tek-Knight, whose behavior is far worse than even Deep’s, would have to be handled delicately or not at all. Like its comics counterpart, The Boys has showcased some of the bloodiest, most violent, and disgusting sequences on TV — Victoria Neuman blowing up people’s heads during a congressional hearing, Popclaw crushing the landlord’s head during sex, the Boys launching their boat straight through a whale. Those are only a few examples on a very long list. While The Boys has already included a plethora of gross scenes, there seems to be a clear limit to what it's willing to show.
