In the summer of 2022, Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), and Will Friedle (Eric Matthews) started a podcast that dissected Boy Meets World’s episodes while also interviewing stars and guest stars from the series. It’s a trending theme for actors and TV stars to create a rewatch podcast, and Pod Meets World is the next podcast on the rise.

The popular podcast has led to listeners rewatching Boy Meets World to be reminded of the things they forgot about from the ‘90s. This has also been translated into the world of memes. Looking back at the cast’s amazing chemistry, memes have been created that perfectly summarize the family-friendly series.

Sean Deserved More

In season 1, Boy Meets World fans knew that Sean came from a troubled home where his parents weren't always around or attentive. In season 2, things only got worse for Sean when his mom ran away and his dad went after head, leaving Sean alone.

As a minor, Chet Hunter (Sean's dad) asked the Matthews if they could look after him. While Cory was excited to have his best friend living with him, Sean felt abandoned. As the meme proves, one of the more emotional, but best Boy Meets World episodes is 'Home.' It's the episode where Sean ran away and finds himself on Mr. Turner's doorstep, only for Mr. Turner to take him in as one of his own.

Kids & Teens Resonated With Cory

This meme may as well be the epitome of Boy Meets World because the show is a coming-of-age sitcom. Viewers watched the likes of Cory, Sean, Eric, and Topanga grow up on their screens. Just as young viewers hit puberty, dealt with break-ups, or entered high school, so did the characters.

Cory was one of the more relatable characters because he never acted like he had things figured out or his life perfectly planned. This, in turn, made Cory one of the more likable Boy Meets World characters. Like the meme, he didn't understand a lot of things about life, and that was oddly comforting for viewers who felt similarly.

The Characters Had Big Dreams For The Future

While some sitcoms show characters with endless dreams, goals, and collegiate aspirations, that wasn't always the case on Boy Meets World, which was refreshing for those who felt similarly. Cory's one goal was to marry Topanga and Topanga's mission was to go to Yale University, but Eric and Sean never pictured themselves going to college.

Each character had different visions for their life, and yet they wound up all attending the same university and growing even closer. The show touched on some serious topics in a light and relatable way.

Boy Meets World Was One Of The Greatest Sitcoms Of The '90s & Early 2000s

The deep storylines that were told in an uplifting and light way made Boy Meets World such a great sitcom. The show touched on dark topics without it being too dramatic for its audience or not family-friendly.

For diehard fans, a text like this would surely go out if someone said they weren't a fan of the sitcom. Between teen romances, divorce, deaths, and school ups and downs — Boy Meets World is the perfect family-friendly show.

Sean Cared About Cory & Topanga The Most

This meme nailed Boy Meets World's biggest storyline on the head. Cory and Sean were best friends so Sean watched every aspect of Cory's relationship with Topanga play out into adulthood. Since the two dated from such a young age, they were bound to have a few breakups.

However, Sean always took their breakups hard. It wasn't just Cory that he was sad for, it upset him that the most stable relationship in his life fell apart — proving the notion that even amazing couples break up. The breakup episodes were some of Boy Meets World's more emotional episodes, and Sean's reactions were hard to watch.

Fans Could Not Keep Topanga's Parents Straight

One of the things that fans may not know about Topanga on the first watch was that her mom and dad looked different in every episode. Her parents weren't shown often, but when they did pop up, they were played by different actors.

As the meme pointed out, Topanga had three very different dads and two moms throughout the series. Even odder, the actors that played her parents each had vastly different personalities. This was confusing for fans and one of the show's bigger blunders.

Girl Meets World Did Not Reach The Potential Fans Had Hoped

Fans are confident in saying that Boy Meets World was better than Girl Meets World. In 2014, the Disney Channel created a spinoff of Boy Meets World that followed Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley.

Just like in the original, Riley went through the same ups and downs every other teenager goes through but she had the support of her parents and friends. While a cute sitcom, fans of the original agreed that the spinoff lacked personality.

ShrimpGate

The relationship between Topanga and Cory was as big as other fictional sitcom couples from the '90s, like Rachel and Ross from Friends and Zack and Kelly from Saved by the Bell. However, in an interview with People, Danielle Fishel admitted that she and Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) never dated off-screen.

In real life, Fishel went on to marry producer Jensen Karp. Karp became a viral sensation in 2021 when he tweeted a series of events that involved shrimp tales that were found in his box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. This became known as ShrimpGate. While the two make a great couple, fans are still salty that Fishel didn't end up with Savage, as the meme brilliantly shows.

The Lauren & Cory Saga Was Hard To Watch

In season 5, Cory met Lauren — a worker at the mountain lodge he and his fellow students were staying at for a field trip. Due to an injury, Cory spent most of his days in the lodge with Lauren, which led to a subtle mutual crush.

The biggest problem was that Cory was dating Topanga at the time. Cory and Lauren shared a kiss, and she wrote him a letter for him to read on his way home. In a shocking twist, Topanga read the note and broke up with Cory. Like the meme showed, as '90s kids watching this episode, it was incredibly hard to watch this couple fall apart.

This Meme Screams Eric As An Adult

Eric Matthews was one Boy Meets World character that deserved more when the series ended. He started the show as a smart and confident young man, but ended unsure of himself and ditzy.

Eric had a hard time getting into college because of his grades and didn't know what he wanted to do with his life, unlike his brother who was more sure of himself. Imagining Eric looking at his future credit card bill and wondering who spent that much is something that sums the show up to a T, because it's something Eric would do.
