A Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fan has shared a hidden scene, revealed only if the player tries to take on a Divine Beast before meeting Impa in Kakariko Village. While many players will have experienced the secret lines before, responses to the clip show that plenty have never before heard the hidden Zelda dialogue, despite the game releasing in 2017.

Thanks to the size of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the game holds many secrets that are easy for players to miss during their time with the game. Even putting countless hours into the Nintendo Switch adventure doesn't guarantee a player will uncover everything that Breath of the Wild has to offer due to its vast map, seemingly-endless NPC characters, and expansive roster of weapons and tools which can be used to uncover hidden features. Something as simple as speaking to an NPC while wearing different clothing can trigger hidden dialogue, as seen in a BOTW secret scene where Hestu sings a song about being naked if Link speaks to him while undressed.

Redditor DanielCharlesworth has uploaded the secret cutscene to the Breath of the Wild subreddit, sharing it with those who aren't familiar with the dialogue. The video features the voice of Princess Zelda, speaking to Link while inside Zora's Domain as the player is about to tackle a Divine Beast. Unfortunately for the player, they haven't yet spoken to Impa in Kakariko Village, meaning they have no idea who or what a Divine Beast is. Speaking with Impa will reveal the backstory of the Divine Beasts, but in place of that context, the secret scene shows Princess Zelda can provide the necessary details if the player hasn't yet met Impa. Zelda says:

"Link...Link. That Divine Beast was taken over by Ganon 100 years ago...You must find a way inside in order to free it from Ganon's Malice. I believe in you, Link."

The Nintendo game allows players to explore the land of Hyrule and beyond in any order that they choose, offering a level of player freedom unparalleled in the Zelda series. As such, players are able to ignore or undertake almost any quest they choose from very early on in the game, which could mean players miss important story beats, such as meeting Impa, a seminal character who provides necessary story details. The hidden Zelda dialogue is in place to ensure that players don't wander into certain events, like freeing the Divine Beasts, without understanding why. While lots of players have undoubtedly discovered the hidden dialogue, reactions to the video demonstrate that many had missed the cutscene during their time with the game.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild still has plenty to offer those who've only tackled the game's main story, with its huge world offering up countless opportunities for exploration and discovery. It's hoped that Nintendo is working on a similarly expansive world for Breath of the Wild 2. Trailers seem to show a darker and more dangerous Hyrulian adventure for Link and Zelda, and with a 2022 release window for BOTW 2, many fans are hoping to see more of the game before the year is out.
