Insane skill and perfect timing have allowed a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player to open a seemingly impossible-to-open chest. Nintendo's open-world fantasy title, the latest game in the iconic Legend of Zelda franchise, was released back in 2017. The game has received near-universal praise for its world design, which allows players to tackle challenges in nearly any order and manner they choose.

Breath of the Wild's vast open-world grants players the freedom to explore and conquer challenges at their leisure, and it is filled with detail. One experimental player recently discovered that the game's thieving Yiga Clan enemies are actually capable of stealing and wielding the franchise's iconic Master Sword. The fascinating discovery was orchestrated by YouTube user ThornyFox, who lured a Yiga warrior across the game world in order to prove the theory. The world of Hyrule itself also contains an abundance of beauty and detail, with some scenery even mirroring iconic images from the real world.

A report from Kotaku reveals that a Breath of the Wild player has managed to open the game's final "impossible" chest. The daunting task, detailed on Kleric's YouTube channel, involves a chest that spawns when players get within 60 meters of it but immediately begins to sink into the sand. Players are given only 18 seconds to reach the chest before it disappears, making it impossible to reach. Kleric managed to actually obtain the treasure using a series of glitches and exploits, swimming through the game world and skillfully manipulating the chest using the game's Magnesis ability. The dramatic effort to open the chest revealed that it contained only one Amber material, though in this case, the journey is more important than the destination.

Breath of the Wild was a massive success for Nintendo, and so naturally fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the game's sequel. Breath of the Wild 2 has only been teased so far, but the sequel is expected to build upon the successes of its predecessor. A slightly tighter progression system, similar to previous games in the series, would help the game's pacing so long as it did not interfere with the open-world design. More dungeon variety has also been requested, alongside a denser and more populated world for players to experience.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild revolutionized the Zelda franchise, bringing it back to the non-linear roots of the franchise's first installment. The game offers players the freedom to explore the world at their own pace, and this open-world design results in a number of mysteries for the community to solve. By finally opening the game's final "impossible" chest, Kleric has given the community closure on a massive mystery.
