A Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fan has vowed to create bad Zelda art every day until the release of Breath of the Wild 2, and has just celebrated an impressive 365 days of drawings. The Redditor may have set themselves up for quite a challenge, with Nintendo perhaps not releasing BOTW 2 until late 2022.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 may be one of the most highly-anticipated sequels of all time, with its predecessor often recognized as being one of the biggest of Nintendo's achievements. The original Breath of the Wild has continued to impress players since it first released alongside the Nintendo Switch in 2017, offering beautiful visuals in an expansive open-world, with hidden secrets and exploits still being discovered to this day. Nintendo confirmed the game's sequel, currently known as Breath of the Wild 2,  in 2019, though news remained quiet until the latest trailer was released this summer. The BOTW 2 trailer revealed the game will feature an overworld in the clouds, teased alongside a newer, darker adventure for Link and Zelda.

Redditor and artist theDuckPancake has been a regular contributor to the r/breathofthewild subreddit, posting one piece of self-described "bad" Zelda artwork each and every day for the past year. According to the creator, they're "drawing badly until BOTW 2," with a new piece of artwork posted daily. These comedic and charming works typically appear in the form of memes and jokes involving the game's NPCs and enemies, drawn in a minimalistic style. The funny posts have regularly seen love from the subreddit, with the latest anniversary piece receiving over 6,000 upvotes.

theDuckPancake has set themselves quite a challenge, as Breath of the Wild 2 doesn't yet have a firm release date. The creator has stuck to their pledge for the last year though, which should mean they'll see it out until the end. It's likely that the artist's final piece of artwork when Breath of the Wild 2 does launch is set to be something extra special, and hopefully will be worth the long wait. Fans of the artist can catch up on 365 days' worth of pieces - as well as their next daily postings - via Reddit.

Nintendo hasn't yet offered Breath of the Wild fans a firm release date for their calendars, but it's likely that BOTW 2 is aiming for a late 2022 release. After announcing the game is targeting a 2022 launch, Nintendo caveated the news by stating this is an aim and not a certainty, which likely means an early 2022 launch isn't possible. Nintendo could instead be intending the game to be holiday 2022's bestseller, perhaps targeting an internal November release date, which is usually when the company launches big-name games such as Pokémon. Fans will have to wait a little longer to find out for sure when Breath of the Wild 2 will release.
