Boston Strangler has added three new actors to the cast: Alessandro Nivola, Carrie Coon, and Chris Cooper. They are joining star Keira Knightley, who is playing Loretta McLaughlin, an investigative reporter who first broke the story of the Boston Strangler. McLaughlin and fellow reporter Jean Cole upended gender norms and put their own lives at risk in their pursuit of the serial killer’s identity in 1960s Boston.

Per Deadline, Knightley will be joined by a trio of impressive actors in Boston Strangler. Alessandro Nivola is coming off of the success of the Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, in which he plays Dickie Moltisanti. Carrie Coon is best known for her work in another prestige HBO project, The Leftovers, and will appear in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife and The Gilded Age. Finally, Chris Cooper is a veteran character actor who took home an Academy for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Adaptation (2002). 20th Century Studios has yet to reveal who the newly hired cast members will be portraying in Boston Strangler.
