Warning: Contains spoilers for Boruto chapter #69

In a new chapter of Boruto, a mysterious villain showcased a terrifying ability that has the potential to turn the shinobi world upside down, and in the process realize the seemingly impossible dreams of many of the main characters from Naruto.

Many characters throughout Naruto have world peace as their ultimate goal, including villains such as Madara Uchiha and Nagato. This result was apparently achieved at the end of the series, as the sequel Boruto shows peaceful relations and cooperation between the five villages, but villains are still conspiring in the shadows and criminal organizations flourish. The one group stronger than the Akatsuki, Kara, has a member whose special power is so impressive that it could have pacified the shinobi world without all the conflict and deaths seen in Naruto.

Eida is a mysterious member of Kara, an organization built around the alien god Isshiki Otsutsuki. After Isshiki's death, his subordinate Code is seeking revenge and has awakened Eida, a woman whose body was heavily modified by Amado, Kara's lead scientist. If a fan theory is to be believed, Amado may be Eida's father. As part of his plan to kill Isshiki, Amado gave Eida an overpowered ability. Her very presence instantly enchants all around her, men and women, into becoming completely captivated and infatuated with her. This power works on an instinctual, unconscious level so that the people affected are unable to harm Eida or resist her commands. Trying to do so leads to a variety of aftereffects, such as vertigo, fever, headaches, stiffened muscles, and ultimately brain damage. What is most fearsome is that not even Eida can control this ability, and the effect is always active until she dies. Even the strongest shinobi like Naruto or Sasuke would be completely powerless.

Eida's powers from Boruto chapter 69

While Eida's ability is fearsome in battle, as it completely incapacitates every opponent, it has much more potential than that. If she entered a meeting of the Five Kage, for example, she would instantly ensnare them and have under her control the five most powerful people in the world. The same goes for the daimyo who rule the Five Countries. If Eida appeared in the past, when the shinobi world was at war, she could have ended all conflict with ease by controlling the military and political leaders (and perhaps entire armies, as the full extent of this power is still unrevealed). Alternatively, she could have made conflicts worse, all according to her wishes. While Boruto's villains are generally one of its biggest flaws, Eida is easily one of the most interesting.

So much of Naruto was built around the desire to end conflict and war, and it's surprising to see that a Boruto character could have achieved that with ease, making the efforts of Naruto and his great cast of tragic characters seem a bit pointless in retrospect.
